In the realm of volleyball, everyone lives on the edge as a new day passes by with news of something new. The change in this sport is the most common thing; Along the same lines, a head coach’s change has recently created a buzz among the fans. The coach, in an interview, made a heartfelt reveal by saying, “It was an incredibly difficult decision.” But the loss of one was a gain for the other.

Therefore, the head coach of USC volleyball, Brad Keller, triumphantly welcomed that coach to its program. The USC women’s volleyball team has been resurrected by the now-made associate head coach, Tyler Hilderbrand, who took up the role after leaving the Long Beach State program.

Despite gaining several achievements at Long Beach State, Hildebrand saw the opportunity to coach the USC women’s volleyball team. He will be joining Huntington Beach with his family for the Big 10 upcoming event. The news of his departure has been posted on the official Instagram page of the USC Women’s Volley with a long, heartwarming caption: “Welcome, Coach Hildebrand!”

In the long post, Keller made the target of the volleyball program clear, “This is a great move for our program. The addition of Tyler Hildebrand to our staff puts us in prime position to compete as we move to the Big Ten Conference in a few short months…Now that our coaching staff is complete, I can’t wait to get to work and build towards the fall with this amazing staff.” Hildebrand was equally elated at the opportunity.

“I want to first thank Brad Keller, Jen Cohen, and Ed Stewart for entrusting my family and me with this incredible opportunity…What he has been building at USC, joining the Big Ten, and Jen Cohen’s leadership are all reasons why these are exciting times for USC women’s volleyball,” Hildebrand conceded. Meanwhile, despite the challenge posed by the coach’s departure, Long Beach State remains committed to building its status.

Long Beach State volleyball rearranges its camp

Hildebrand was the nation’s top assistant coach after helping lead Nebraska to a national title. It was at that point when he was hired by Long Beach State. As he left the program, LBSU athletic director Bobby Smitheran did not hide his disappointment. He said, “Tyler has done a great job of elevating the women’s volleyball program in his two years at The Beach, and we’re certainly disappointed to see him move on. Coach Hildebrand has built a foundation for future success…” The decision has not been easy for Hilderbrand as well.

“This one was all the way down to the wire just a tough decision, it was really hard. I had a lot of young women here who came to play for me and believed in what we were building. That’s hard as a head coach when you leave that,” he said. However, time moves on. Keeping with that, Natalie Reagan, the team’s top assistant under Hildebrand, has been appointed as the program’s interim head coach through the upcoming 2024 season. It remains to be seen how the two programs process this shakeup.
