Women’s volleyball is an incredibly popular sport in the US, and for good reasons. While the entire country is a brilliant place to pursue one’s volleyball dreams, Nebraska holds a special place among the fans. Along with the Huskers’ phenomenal popularity in the state, the newly launched Real Pro Volleyball League is also proving to be an immensely successful tournament. The PVF’s ambitious project kicked off in style earlier this year in Omaha and fans have flocked to every match since.

The Omaha Supernovas are shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the Real Pro Volleyball scene and with gusto. Nebraska is often considered the volleyball capital of the country and recent data once again shows exactly why its reverence isn’t misplaced.

In a recent post by Hurrdat Sports on X (formerly known as Twitter), Nebraska’s craze about volleyball has been highlighted once again. According to the post, Nebraska fans have gathered in numbers in both home and away games to make sure their team has enough cheerful voices in its corner to make their opponents feel the pressure every time. “The top five U.S. professional volleyball attendance records all have Nebraska involved“, announces the post in a triumphant manner.

The post then goes on to list all the venues where the Supernovas’ fans have underscored their undying passion for volleyball. Omaha hosted the Orlando Valkyries a week ago at the CHI Health Center. While the Supernovas won the match in four sets, it was the staggering 11,918 attendees who stole the spotlight on the night. This number is currently the highest number of people to have ever gathered at a women’s professional volleyball match in history.

Nebraska set the tone for the league on the opening night as they took on the Atlanta Vibes. With 11,624 fans in the stadium, the match now has the second-highest attendance on the list. Three weeks ago, the San Diego Mojo traveled to Omaha, where 11,403 fans greeted them with thundering cheers for the Supernovas.

This is the third name on the list, while the fourth all-time highest attendance record is from 8 years ago, when the Rio Olympic qualifiers took place in Lincoln, Nebraska (10,213). Only 6 days ago, the Supernovas were hosted by the Columbus Fury in a high-octane match, which the former lost. And yet, 9,145 fans made sure the match didn’t go unmarked for the Nebraska team.
