In a thrilling showdown, No. 5 Texas Volleyball delivered an electrifying performance by toppling No. 2 Stanford with a spirited victory during the NCAA Regional Final held at the iconic Maples Pavilion. This triumph was more than just a win; it transcended sporting boundaries with peppered humor. It was humorously dubbed the “gift that keeps on giving,” adding a playful touch to the celebration.
The Longhorns, boasting a remarkable record of 26-4, have punched their ticket to the NCAA Final Four for the 15th time, marking their 11th appearance in the last 16 seasons. The excitement doesn’t stop there, as Texas gears up to face off against Wisconsin in the upcoming NCAA Semifinal on Thursday, December 14, set to unfold in the vibrant city of Tampa, Florida. Recently, however, there were some good natured jabs generated at Stanford’s expense.
Texas Volleyball’s swagger secures NCAA final bid
They not only showcased a great game but also dismissed their rival with a sassy comment as they earned their place in the NCAA Finals. They posted a video of a scene from a movie that has two dialogues stating, “Look what you’ve done to my tree” To its reply, the dialogue goes, “It is an ugly tree anyway.” The video was posted on their official Twitter, and it was captioned, “The gift that keeps on giving #HookEm.“

What set Texas apart in this victorious clash was their commanding presence at the net, outclassing Stanford with an impressive 12-3 block advantage while maintaining a stellar .342 hitting percentage throughout the match. The Longhorns’ garrulous performance not only secured their spot in the Final Four, but also left an indelible mark on the journey to potential championship glory.
Madison Skinner, who earned the title of Stanford Regional Most Outstanding Player, also showcased her prowess with an impressive performance, concluding the match with an astounding 24 kills and an outstanding .383 hitting percentage. Standford withstood the battering whilst still holding their own.
Texas triumphs stung their rival
Apart from Skinner, Asjia O’Neal displayed tremendous skills with 10 kills and 5 blocks, and lastly, two service aces were recognized. Following O’Neal’s path, another standout player named Ella Swindle clinched the All-Tournament team and achieved her eighth double-double of the season. Bella Bergmark played a pivotal role in the match and led the team with seven total blocks and four kills.
Team Texas showcased a strong game by securing a victory score of 25-16 on the court. The team exhibited exceptional efficiency, hitting an impressive .485 in the set with an 88-percent siding-out rate. Fans are now hoping to see more such battles both on and off the ground.
