On September 26, the North Hills Christian volleyball team, aka the Eagles, did something truly special for one of their biggest little fans. Skylar Watson, who’s been fighting leukemia like the brave warrior she is, got to be the honorary team captain for the game. But the Eagles weren’t just playing against North Bay Christian that night—they were playing with Skylar in their hearts. Coach Wayne Parinas summed it up perfectly: “We just wanted to honor her and show her that the volleyball team, as representatives of the school, were behind her and praying for her.”

And for Skylar’s mom, Amanda Watson, the night was nothing short of heartwarming. Watching her 6-year-old daughter proudly take on the role of team captain was a moment she’ll never forget. “She was smiling ear-to-ear the whole time,” Watson shared. “She was so excited to wear a uniform, sit on the bench, and do all the volleyball cheers.”

That game wasn’t just about volleyball. It was about love, community, and giving Skylar a night to remember. Amanda Watson hopes that one day, Skylar will look back on this moment with pure joy, remembering the cheers and the support that surrounded her. Both Watson and Coach Parinas agreed—this match was more than just another game; it was a beautiful reminder that the Eagles family has Skylar’s back, every step of the way.

So, how’d the game turn out? Well, North Hills Christian showed up for Skylar, cruising to a straight-set win over North Bay Christian. Her bravery gave them that extra spark, and it was more than just a win—it was all about coming together and lifting each other.
