Are the Texas Longhorns the new powerhouse in NCAA volleyball, ready to dethrone the Huskers?

On upcoming Sunday, the Texas Longhorns volleyball women’s team will step into Gainesville to counter the Florida Gators. Before the mega battle between these two NCAA volleyball giants, the Longhorns have several reasons to extract motivation. The first is the fiery form the no. 7 team is showing in the arena. Recently, South Carolina witnessed a chunk of this blitzkrieg. It was the home game of the Longhorns, and the team never left its feet from the accelerator. However, before South Carolina, Texas A&M had a similar experience. But apart from these victories, there’s another in the corner to play the motivational role.

The data came out last Friday when the Texas Longhorns volleyball women’s team locked horns with Texas A&M. However, things are in a speculative state. But it has a high chance of occurring in real life.

Two elements have brewed a chance where Texas Longhorns women’s volleyball can etch another record in the all-time attendance book of NCAA volleyball. Last Friday, Texas A&M came to Reed Arena to upset the Longhorns. However, the hard-fought game tilted toward the latter while the Aggies’ effort fell short (3-1). But the audience left no chance to cheer their preferred teams that night. Eventually, the final data of the headcount in the game displayed 9,236—the highest ever in the regular-season game at any level in state history. But how does this number challenge Nebraska’s 2023 milestone?

The connoisseurs think that there’s a way. After Friday’s game, a fresh announcement declared the Alamodome in San Antonio as the venue of the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Championship. That means that the arena will have the chance to host two semifinal games and the title battle. So if the home teams reach those rounds, the 70,000-seat arena may see a full house. And the result will be the sheer challenge to the record of Nebraska, which had 92,003 fans in the Memorial Stadium.

And it can also demolish its number (18,755) made in 2023 against Wisconsin. Nonetheless, many things can happen on the penultimate days. Yet the Longhorns know how to bring their fans to the arena.
