The Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball squad just keeps the wins rolling in! Whether it’s the entire squad or individual stars, the team’s momentum is unstoppable. After their recent 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 sweep over Michigan, the Husker spirit didn’t stop there! Beyond the court, the players are making waves, too. When the AVCA National Player of the Year watch list first dropped, just four Nebraska players made the cut. Out of 36 names, no one expected it to expand—but on October 18th, 16 more names were added, including the rising powerhouse Andi Jackson, who’s been a standout all season.

The official Husker X account celebrated the achievement with a shoutout, saying, “Achievement Unlocked: NEW WATCH LIST MEMBER! @aandijackson joins four other Huskers in being named to @AVCAVolleyball’s National POTY Watch List! #GBR.” And now, as if one celebration wasn’t enough, it seems there’s yet another update sparking excitement for Andi and the whole Husker community!

Is Andi Jackson the new face of Nebraska volleyball's unstoppable rise to dominance?

Have an interesting take?

On October 28, Lincoln Arneal, the go-to for all things Nebraska volleyball at Huskers Illustrated, took to X with more exciting Andi Jackson news! Sharing Nebraska volleyball’s post celebrating Andi, which read, “Ms. Jackson is for reallllll. @aandijackson is your @B1GVolleyball Defensive POTW! #GBR,”

Lincoln added his own cheer, noting, “Andi Jackson earns her first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award. She was the Freshman of the week once last year.” He went on to spotlight Andi’s impressive stats, with 11 blocks and a .417 hitting percentage, racking up 21 kills against Illinois and Michigan. Andi’s rise is truly something to behold.

Andi Jackson is killing it in her sophomore season! This middle blocker is making waves on the Nebraska team, ranking third in kills and second in both blocks and hitting percentage. She’s also holding her own in the Big Ten Conference, sitting fifth among all players for hitting percentage. Just last weekend, she averaged a solid 1.57 blocks per set in the team’s wins over Illinois and Michigan!

Jackson has been a real powerhouse, averaging 3.00 kills per set with a hitting percentage of.417. But hold up, there’s more! She’s actually leading the nation with an insane hitting percentage of.472. In the game against Illinois, she showed up with six blocks and 11 kills, rocking a.667 hitting percentage. Then, in a 3-1 win over Michigan, she added five blocks and 10 kills to her tally. But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for her, as she had to sit out for a few games this month.

Andi Jackson takes a break, but the Huskers keep shining!

Let’s rewind a few weeks to when the Nebraska Huskers faced off against Illinois, and Andi Jackson was out nursing an injury—something the Huskers Radio Network confirmed. Her absence was definitely felt since she was averaging 2.66 kills per set and had a solid 48 blocks, trailing only Rebekah Allick. But did that stop the Huskers? Not a chance!

They charged into their first Big Ten road match of the season and swept Illinois with scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-17 at Huff Hall in Champaign. With a record of 13-1 and 3-0 in the conference, they proved they could still bring the heat even without one of their stars. Oh, and let’s not forget that Andi also missed the game against Iowa, but the Huskers kept the momentum going! The No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team dominated the Iowa Hawkeyes, sweeping them at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers hit an impressive .404 and held the Hawkeyes to just .155. Fast forward to the present, and with Andi back on the court, the Huskers continue to shine! They proudly hold the No. 2 spot in the rankings and have kept their match-winning streak alive, celebrating their 17th consecutive victory against Michigan just earlier this week!
