The last time Louisville and Pittsburgh Volleyball teams locked horns was in the Sweet-16 opener of the NCAA Tournament last year. 

Yet again, both the teams faced each other in the top 8 showdown of the NCAA tournament this season. Although last year Louisville’s volleyball team defeated the opponent team, But. Something unexpected happened this season. Pittsburgh Panthers defeated Louisville’s volleyball in a nail-biting clash.

As per the recent tweet by NCAA Women’s volleyball, was captioned as, “(1) Pitt_VB defeats (2) Louisville in a reverse sweep to advance to the National Semifinals for the third straight season“. Recently, Teams Pittsburgh competed with the Louisville volleyball team and passed with flying colors in an intense showdown of 5 sets. 

In the first set of the NCAA quarterfinals, Louisville shined on the volleyball court as the team overcame intense pressure while securing a win by 25-23. In addition to this, Louisville added another point as the team clinched the following set by 25-20. At this point, spectators were quite sure that Louisville was going to win today’s showdown.

But something unexpected happened in today’s riveting matchup. Pittsburgh made a remarkable comeback in the last three sets of 5-sets thrilling matchup. Soon after dominating the opponent team on the court, Pitts managed to win a match by adding three wins in the last sets. Interestingly, team Pittsburgh concluded today’s showdown with 16-25, 19-25 and 7-15. 

Finally, team Pittsburgh was able to make a redemption of last year’s semifinal showdown. Louisville secured a win over the Panthers last year by 3-2. The Panthers won today’s top 8 showdown with the exact same score. The major reason for Pittsburgh’s astonishing victory is the team’s collaborative efforts. 

What helped the Panthers to win today’s showdown?

Pittsburgh Panthers feature incredible team support where every player on the team is determined to overpower the opponent team. However, some of the key players on the team added the most points to secure a win today. Notably, Olivia Babcock shined on the volleyball turf with a .286 hitting percentage, adding the highest 21.5 individual points in today’s match.

Torrey Stafford supported Olivia Babcock equally to dominate the opponents while securing 19 individual points. Finally, the Panthers took redemption and eliminated Louisville from the NCAA this season. But the question is: will Panthers be able to win the upcoming showdown to secure a spot at the finals?
