The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Volleyball tournament is currently underway, and it served a thrilling set of playoffs since its commencement. On the same note, in another thrilling showdown, Pittsburgh Women’s Volleyball Team soared through an easy victory on 10 November 2023 in the game away from home. Visiting the turf of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Pittsburgh Panthers dominated the play throughout the game. In fact, the Panthers won the match via a massive clean sweep.

The Panthers didn’t allow any chance for the Yellow Jackets to retaliate in any set. Moreover, Georgia Tech players couldn’t even touch the 20-point mark in any set. A social media post declared the result of the almost one-sided match as the Panthers trounced the team of Georgia Tech. In fact, the dominance overwhelmed its opponents and forced them to commit several errors.

Pittsburgh Panthers take complete control of the volleyball court

The Pittsburgh Panthers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are two of the toughest women’s volleyball teams in the NCAA Division 1. Interestingly, both teams also share the same conference, and constantly battle for supremacy in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). This time, however, No.8 Georgia Tech took a hefty loss on its home arena from No.7 Pittsburgh Panthers.

NCAA Women’s Volleyball tweeted the result of the match via its official X account. The tweet carried the caption, “THE PANTHERS DEFEAT THE YELLOW JACKETS. In a dominate 3 set sweep, No. 7 @Pitt_VB secures the dub over No. 8 Georgia Tech on the road, hitting .440 for the match.” While both teams look evenly matched on paper, the Yellow Jackets visibly struggled against the Panthers.

The women of Pittsburgh registered a hit rate of 0.440 and committed just six errors. On the other hand, the Yellow Jackets conceded 23 points via errors and managed a measly hit rate of 0.57. The Panthers won the game with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-19. 

Nevertheless, this time, the scoreboard registered comparatively a low score than the last time for the Yellow Jackets as they had lost a showdown against the Pittsburgh but with a head to head playoff, Yellow Jackets forced Panthers to the fifth set.

Georgia Tech hits low point as season end nears

The Georgia Tech Women’s Volleyball Team has worked very hard this season to secure a top-ten NCAA spot. However, while every team is ramping up its efforts, the Yellow Jackets suffered a humiliating loss on their home turf. Georgia Tech had lost its last encounter with Pittsburgh as well but had opened the match with two consecutive set wins.

Fans saw the offense of the Yellow Jackets go weak in the last three sets of the previous game which cost them the match.

Although the loss looks rather disappointing for the Yellow Jackets, the result of the match paints a very good picture for the Panthers. The win against the offense of Georgia Tech has now solidified the position of Pittsburgh in the ACC. Will the Panthers be able to go ahead and form a similar grip in the NCAA?
