Will Batenhorst and Krause's reunion spark a new era of dominance for the Omaha Supernovas?

Sweet reunion awaits! After jumping ships to USC after three years as a Huskers star, Ally Batenhorst is en route to return to Nebraska once again. Earlier this month, Batenhorst became the first Trojan athlete to bag the coveted Player Of The Week award after her stellar performance against the Bruins. But it’s time to get back to her roots, and it looks like a Huskers reunion is in order.

During her time in Lincoln, Batenhorst turned a lot of heads with her outstanding skills. Naturally, when her name surfaced in the transfer market in early 2024, programs scurried to get her on their roster. With the Southern California stars too, Ally has been able to show repeatedly why she has high popularity among volleyball connoisseurs of the country. And she’s about to do it again, and this time, with a familiar face by her side.

The inaugural PVF winners, the Omaha Supernovas, posted on X on November 25, revealing the newest members to join their already stacked router. “With the 15th pick in the 2024 #PVFDraft, the #OmahaSupernovas select OH @allybatenhorstt from the University of Southern California!” the social media update noted. Increasing the joy for the state’s volleyball fans, the account dropped another massive news just moments after announcing Ally Batenhorst’s move.

With the 19th pick in the 2024 #PVFDraft, the #OmahaSupernovas select OH @lindsayykrause from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,” read the caption of a subsequent post by the Supernovas. The senior Huskers outside hitter and Batenhorst have played together side by side before the latter found her new squad. And now, they’re on their way to lend their combined prowess to the 2024 PVF champs.

But the folks over at USC have more things to celebrate than just Ally’s latest drafting. In its recent Instagram post, the Trojans shared that their athlete Mia Tuaniga has been drafted by the Atalanta Vibes as well. In a short video clip, the USC stars can be seen celebrating their colleagues’ achievements, as both Mia and Ally can be spotted feeling gleeful by the news.

Have an interesting take?

The addition of Ally Batenhorst is a game-changer for our program,” USC head coach Brad Keller said when the ex-Huskers was roped in by the Trojans in February this year. Keller’s confidence wasn’t unfounded, considering in three years at Nebraska, Batenhorst recorded an impressive 535 kills in 245 sets and finished with a total of 606 points. Keeping up with Keller’s faith in her abilities, Ally became instrumental in USC’s epic 3-2 victory over Oregon earlier this month. The Trojans lost the first two sets, only to bounce back emphatically thanks to Batenhorst’s 18 kills and 10 digs. However, it hasn’t been all a smooth sail for the OH since she donned her new stripes.

On the other hand, the maiden run of PVF has proven to be immensely successful. Giving the volleyball athletes of the country a chance to pursue their dreams beyond their collegiate days, the newly introduced league has created quite a ripple, and in Nebraska, things have been especially popular.

But will Batenhorst be able to relive her glory days in the volleyball-loving state once again? What do you think? Share your predictions in a comment!
