The Wisconsin Badgers women’s volleyball team left no stone unturned to dominate the 2023 season. While the cohesive teamwork of the Badgers is already lethal, its individual players also carry razor-sharp edges. Along similar lines, one of its stars who has been adding major honors to her already impressive resume throughout the year just landed another stellar achievement.

Sarah Franklin has been an absolute goliath on the volleyball court each time she has stepped into the arena. Following suit, she framed another accolade to her wall of fame as she conquered a regional honor after several Big Ten achievements in 2023.

Sarah Franklin annexed the third elite crown for herself

Wisconsin Volleyball proudly tweeted about the newest crown annexed by their lucky 13 player Sarah Franklin. The tweet carried the caption, “Big Ten Player of the Year. AVCA All-Region Player of the Year. Congrats @sarahfrankk13 on your AVCA All-Region and Player of the Year honor!” While she is an Michigan State alumnus, her talents have truly shined as a Wisconsin Badgers player after she got a transfer from MSU to play for Wisconsin.

Sarah Franklin contributes big numbers in almost all aspects of every game. The Wisconsin Badgers star is also the Big Ten Player of the Year. Franklin was unanimously voted to the All Big Ten First Team and also earned the Big Ten Player of the Week honor thrice in 2023. While Sarah Franklin has enabled the Wisconsin Badgers to escape several pinch situations, she also constantly creates difficulties for her opponents.  

Starting in 30 out of 31 matches in 2023, Franklin secured seven double-doubles averaging 4.17 kills per set and 4.64 points per set. While Sarah Franklin is an immovable player for Wisconsin, she also received major support from two stars of her team.

Wisconsin Badgers stars hogging all the space in the All Big Ten First Team

Anna Smrek and Carter Booth of the Wisconsin Badgers have also bagged a spot in the first team of their highly competitive conference. While Anna Smrek is a junior opposite hitter for the Badgers, Booth is a sophomore who plays the middle blocker position.

This is the second time Carter Booth earned her spot in the first all-conference team. Moreover, Anna Smrek had bagged the season MVP award in 2021 when the Badgers lifted their first-ever NCAA Volleyball Championship. The Wisconsin Badgers are accessing the 2023 postseason and have already bested the Nebraska Huskers 9 times in their last 10 appearances. Will 2023 also be the year of the Badger for Wisconsin?
