The NCAA Championship is on and four college teams are vying for the top spot to win the coveted title. While Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Penn State fight off for the prize, the Maryland Terps are focusing on building its team for the next season and one massive piece of news is sure to make them rest easy. The All-American athlete Anastasia Russ has extended her stay at Maryland and things couldn’t be better.

Last month, Russ was one of the key players that brought a resounding win for the Terps over Rutgers at the Big Ten Conference. Her incredible .467 hitting percentage secured the win and the Terps are set to make the most of the All-American’s skills for another year.

In their latest post on X, formerly Twitter, the Maryland Terps shared the news of Russ’ move to return to the Maryland campus. The no. 88 shirt-wearing hitter “is coming back for another year with the Terps“, according to the tweet. Russ has been among the only four players who played in all 32 matches for the Terps. She also boasts one of the best single-season clips in the program’s history. Understandably, Russ’ return will boost Maryland’s NCAA aspirations some more for the next season.

November has been a particularly good month for Russ with her incredible performances against NCAA opponents Ohio State and Purdue. In 2022, Russ was named to the second All-Big Ten team thanks to her commendable performance. In the 2023 season, Russ racked up a total of 119 blocks- something that has helped the Terps to hold their ground against their foes in almost every match.

Russ’ return as a senior at Maryland will be significant news for the Terps as they will look to dominate the next season at the Big Ten. No wonder, the Terps will also be going all-out trying to secure their spot at next year’s NCAA Championship as well.
