TikTok is straight-up everywhere these days, and let’s face it—everyone’s all in, following the hype like it’s the only thing that matters. Enter the latest trend that’s taken the internet by storm: pranking players during autograph sessions! And guess what? The WNBA, track and field, and other sports teams are getting in on the fun too. Even the Nebraska Huskers volleyball players couldn’t resist hopping on board! Sure, signing stuff isn’t anything new; athletes do it all the time.
But now, people are getting players to sign the most random, off-the-wall things—like those super old or embarrassing pics from back in the day. And it’s all pure comedy gold! No one knows who was the mastermind behind this trend, but it’s giving fans non-stop laughs. And now, the Nebraska volleyball crew along with Lexi Rodriguez have joined in, and it’s everything you could hope for.

Nebraska Volleyball hopped onto X to share not one but two clips, showing the entire squad one by one signing some old-school photos from their past. While some players got all sentimental and soaked up the nostalgia, others? Let’s just say they were pretty embarrassed. Harper Murray, the Outside Hitter, glanced at another player’s photo and couldn’t hold back her reaction. With a playful grin and a laugh, she said, “Oh, that one’s bad!”

Laney Choboy, confused, laughed as she joked about her photo being pulled from her mom’s Facebook, recalling her headband phase. While Maisie Boesiger, however, shouted, “No!!” when she saw her pic lying in a forest scene. Embarrassed, she called it “criminal” and admitted it was from five years ago—definitely not her favorite picture!
Lexi Rodriguez, captain of the Nebraska Huskers, let out a playful groan when she spotted her throwback picture, laughing awkwardly as she muttered, “My ugly awkward phase one.” The photo snapped way back in 2015 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports stadium showed a young Lexi proudly holding a trophy that looked almost as big as she was back then.
Lexi’s photo was from the 14 and Under Open Volleyball Championships, where she clinched second place. But nope, Nebraska Volleyball isn’t the first team to jump on this viral trend. Ever since it blew up, it’s not just volleyball players having fun with it—WNBA teams have also joined the wave!
Before Nebraska Volleyball joined the fun, WNBA stars like Caitlin Clark got pranked first!
Let’s step off the volleyball court and onto the basketball court because WNBA teams like the Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury have also jumped into this latest viral trend! Just last month, Indiana Fever’s official account hopped on TikTok, posting a video of their players signing old childhood photos and the reactions were all over the place! In one highlight, Grace Berger had to share a bittersweet moment when she explained to a teammate that the dog in her old photo had passed away.
Erica Wheeler, on the other hand, couldn’t get over the sheer length of a t-shirt she was wearing in her picture—cracking up over it. Aliyah Boston made a blink-and-miss-it appearance, hinting that she may have dodged signing her picture altogether. And then there was Caitlin Clark, who was all smiles as she admired a younger version of herself holding a basketball, proudly saying, “Gosh, I’m so cute.” And that’s not all!
The Phoenix Mercury jumped on the trend early, just like the Nebraska Huskers Volleyball and Indiana Fever. They might have been the first to start it all! The fun began with Diana Taurasi, who casually started signing something—until she realized it was an old photo she’d rather keep hidden. Laughing, she blurted out, “Ah, [expletive],” before walking away, leaving everyone cracking up. Brittney Griner also joined in, having an absolute field day with her picture and her teammates. She laughed so hard she could barely keep it together—classic BG!
Shifting gears to the track even, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone fell victim to the hilarious trend, and her reaction was priceless! As a fan handed her a picture from her high school days, she couldn’t help but break into a grin, exclaiming, “Girl! Where did you find this?” Among all these epic reactions, which one is your favorite?
