The Nebraska Huskers hit a massive iceberg in the final match of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Texas Longhorns did their homework and played to their strengths while ensuring that Nebraska didn’t. Their strategy bore fruit and they successfully managed to floor the team that had previously beaten them twice.
While the stands were full with a record-breaking 19,727 spectators in attendance, not everyone was happy that day. This was especially true for the players of the Nebraska Huskers who lost their second, but most important match of the season. Interestingly, the narrative amongst the players was leaked right after the match by their coach and US Olympic legend, Jordan Larson.

John Baylor, the Husker Nation Radio voice of the Nebraska Huskers Volleyball, caught Larson for a brief courtside interview. Baylor asked the reigning Olympic gold medalist if she could share any locker room conversation. Larson answered, saying, “I think just immense gratitude. I think everybody just really enjoyed the process and the journey of this season, you know.”
The Nebraska Huskers coach further said, “I think we all led with gratitude and just appreciative of abilities that we have. And every day, we get to come in the gym and get better and I think the relationships that were built over the years.” Finally, she also said that the team didn’t want to just stay limited to the result of the finals.
This showcases that the Huskers may have lost the finals, but they have not lost hope. Although Larson said that the players are full of gratitude, it is natural for them to be upset and angry with the loss as well. In fact, this was very well reflected by a player during a post-match press conference.

However, turning her sadness into rage, Allick announced that the Nebraska Huskers would become better, and in fact, win the next three championships. Although it may sound like sentimental rambling on the mic, considering the caliber Nebraska has shown, they might as well do it. Especially when no player from the current roster is a senior. Do you think the Huskers will be back with vengeance in 2024?
