Ally Batenhorst has been an icon in the realm of women’s volleyball in the US. Currently, on the AVCA Player of the Year watchlist, Batenhorst has played on two major teams in the NCAA. Donning the jersey of both the Nebraska Cornhuskers and, more recently, the USC Trojans, the young volleyball athlete dazzled like a star. Inclined to play several sports, Ally B was immensely talented since she was a kid. 

A young Batenhorst flourished as a basketball player and soon made a name for herself. Her impeccable skill set earned her several prestigious accolades. Competing at the 2016 USAV National Championships, Batenhorst clinched a gold medal for the Houston Juniors. She also took the gold representing the U18 US Team in the 2018 NORECA championship. Continuing her merry run, back in 2020, Batenhorst led her high school to the Texas state title. 

All these achievements came with added caviar as well. The young volleyball player soon became the No. 3 prospect in the nation and the No. 2 outside hitter by PrepVolleyball.com. Competing in her final for the Huskers, Batenhorst impressed with an average of 2.25 kills every set along with 52 blocks and 54 digs. Coming to the Trojans too, the 21-year-old let her performance speak for her. She averaged 3.77 kills for a set with a .239 hitting percentage. Batenhorst also recorded 354 kills this season up until November 2024. 

Unfortunately, all of that would come to an end after the Trojans failed to get past the Texas Longhorns recently. With 2024 being the final year of Batenhorst’s college, this was the final time she donned the Trojans’ jersey. Expectedly, it was an emotional moment for the 21-year-old volleyball star. Penning down her emotions via an Instagram post, Batenhorst wrote, “Last night I played my last collegiate volleyball match, and 4 years FLEW by, but I can’t think of a better way to end my career than being surrounded by such amazing people in my life.”

She also expressed her excitement at being a part of two of the best college programs in Nebraska and the Trojans. Thanking the ones who have supported her throughout the journey, the 21-year-old opined, “Thank you to everyone who has pushed me and supported me throughout this journey. I can’t imagine my life without this experience, and my heart is truly full of so much joy & gratitude.” Now then, getting to know her hearty farewell to the game, fans, and her teammates could not help but express their love for the volleyball star.

Reflecting the deep bond and admiration that Batenhorsr shared with her teammates, one Nebraska athlete, Anni Evans wrote, “You are amazing ally b!! love you and couldn’t be more proud 💌 best is yet to come”. Acknowledging the decorated volleyball career that Batenhorst has had with Nebraska and USC, Evans expresses pride in Batenhorst’s accomplishments and emotional farewell. 

Another volleyball star, Dani Thomas Nathan commented, “Ally I’m crying so hard. such a blessing to have gotten to be your teammate ❤️❤️” Such heartfelt comments unveil the emotional bond that thrived between Ally Batenhorst and her NCAA teammates. After Batenhorst played her final collegiate match, her farewell post stirred strong emotions not only among fans but also among her teammates and other athletes.  

Another USC Volleyball athlete, Gala Trubint hinted at the impactful presence that Ally B has left as a player and teammate for the USC Trojans. Reflecting the lasting impression that Batenhorst has left on Trubint, the athlete wrote, “Playing with you has been the biggest blessing in my life!”. Given Batenhorst’s outstanding contributions on the court, averaging 3.77 kills per set and recording 354 kills this season, her leadership and performance likely inspired and uplifted her teammates.
