For Nebraska volleyball fans, this Saturday will be a highly anticipated one. After sweeping over Wisconsin earlier this month on the road, the Huskers will host the Badgers on home turf this weekend. Naturally, fans can’t wait to see if John Cook’s squad can continue its winning streak in Lincoln. However, Nebraska’s libero and co-captain Lexi Rodriguez knows it’s better said than done.

When the Nebraska women’s volleyball team clashed against Wisconsin UW Field House, most loyalists of collegiate volleyball were sure that the Badgers would keep their home record intact. And yet, Rodriguez & Co. managed to pull off a miracle and ended the Badgers’ 11-year-long winning run in their backyard. But Rodriguez believes it’s exactly what would make the Wisconsin team seek revenge this time around.

The Nebraska senior recently sat down with the press to talk about how the team is preparing to lock horns with the sixth-ranked Badgers at the Memorial Stadium this Saturday. Rodriguez was instrumental in the Huskers’ last victory over the Wisconsin team, and she believes it will be another thrilling match against their next foes. However, in the YouTube upload by HuskerOnline, Lexi also noted her confidence about how the visitors will arrive with all guns blazing.

“We’re really preparing for another hard matchup. Just because we beat them the first time doesn’t mean that it’s like we’re going to do it again,” Rodriguez said when asked if the Huskers can repeat their feat from earlier this month. She went on to assure that whatever happens, volleyball connoisseurs are in for a treat nonetheless: “It’s gonna be a battle. They’re a great team…they’re going to make adjustments from last game so we got to be prepared,” she stated flatly.

Rodriguez went on to clarify how the Huskers are doing their homework by taking notes from their last clash, “We’re kind of preparing for a long hard fought match,” she said. However, considering how the Nebraska team has been on a roll in the 2024/25 NCAA season, fans shouldn’t worry about seeing the squad being handed a tumultuous defeat in any case.

Despite dishing out spectacular performances every week, the Nebraska team received a massive blow to the guts by the Texas Longhorns in the high-octane NCAA final in the 2023/24 season in Tampa, Florida. Naturally, coming painfully close to lifting the national title seems to have injected quite a lot of energy into the team this season, and Lexi Rodriguez wants to make use of the opportunity to the fullest.
