Nebraska volleyball is on a roll! After conceding a defeat to SMU back in September, the Huskers have bounced back stellar style and are currently running high on a 20-match winning streak. John Cook’s squad also currently boasts a perfect 13-0 Big 10 record, highlighting its intent to secure the NCAA title this season after falling to Texas in the final match of the previous national championship campaign. Luckily, the Nebraska fans are also doing their part and providing all the support their team needs, and Cook can’t help but feel flattered.
Fans of Nebraska volleyball are known to flood arenas and turn up with their loudest cheers. Along with that, their numbers always play a pivotal role in supplying the Huskers women with the motivation to give their best on the court. And now, as Nebraska scooped its latest win against Oregon, Cook was once again stunned by the battalion of Nebraska loyalists who showed up for the match.

A post on X by the official Big Ten Volleyball account shared John Cook’s reaction after Nebraska’s clean 3-0 sweep over the Ducks at the Matthew Knight Arena. According to official reports, a school-record crowd of 8,566 attended the game, breaking the previous record of 7,334. Naturally, the Nebraska volleyball head coach was elated by the data and was barely able to hide his jubilation over the fact. “Shoutout to all the Nebraska fans. It’s cool,” Cook said in the post-match interview as he beamed proudly.
"I didn't even know there were this many Nebraska fans in Oregon."

But the HC also noted how he was astonished by the statistics because it isn’t something Cook was aware of. “I had no idea we had this many Nebraska fans in Oregon,” confessed the veteran coach candidly. Subsequently, he also mentioned that the environment at tonight’s match was incredible and it was an exciting place to play at. Cook then went on to claim that this victory was even sweeter because it was like revenge for the defeat that the Huskers suffered at the hands of Oregon two years ago.
However, it would seem from John’s comments that the traveling fans played a titular role in his team’s victory on the road. But this isn’t the first time that Nebraska’s volleyball fans went the mile to cheer for their team with gusto.

Nebraska is often considered the epicenter of women’s collegiate volleyball. From the NCAA to the Pro Volleyball Federation, almost all women’s volleyball games witness significant attendance, and it seems like a fact that the folks over in the state also take immense pride in it. In February this year, it was revealed that Nebraska holds some of the highest attendance records in the country, and it looks like the popularity isn’t slowing down any time soon. The 2024-25 season is already looking good for Huskers fans as September’s AVCA ratings disclosed staggering numbers.
Even last year, as the Huskers traveled to Iowa to lock horns with the Hawkeyes, their traveling band of supporters made their voices heard. Moreover, with the Nebraska women’s volleyball players also stepping up their game this year to compensate for the absence of some of their star players, fans are also trying to give their best so the team can win its first national title since 2017. So do you believe John Cook’s squad can pull off the feat this season? Tell us below.
