After Being Appointed as New Head Coach of Washington Cougars, Korey Schroeder Shares Excitement With Fans

The Washington Cougars have had a fairly good 2023, something not every volleyball team can attest to. Last year’s NCAA championship tournament saw the Cougars reaching the regional semis before exiting the event. However, their sorrow may be lessened because their defeat was handed by the team that reached the national semifinals. Now, as a new head coach takes up their reigns, the Washington team may be looking at better prospects this year.

The Cougars recently bid adieu to long-time head coach Jen Greeny. With the new appointment, the team looks forward to another exciting new season as the new Big 10 entrants will aim to seal their place among the nation’s elites and hopefully be imparted by wise maxims in lieu of Schroeder.

New head coach brings a lot to the table

In a recent post on X, the official Washington State Volleyball account shared a message from the new head coach Korey Schroeder. Schroder has so far spent only one season with the Cougars, but his insights and knowledge of the game made the authorities believe in his capability to lead the team out of the tumultuous times. “Hey Coug nation“, addressed Schroeder before sharing his excitement to start his journey in his new role.

After thanking some folks for their support and continuous belief in him, Schroeder said, “Excited to get started this spring“. While Washington State hasn’t been able to affect their foes enough these past few seasons, many believe it was Schroeder’s behind-the-scenes actions that helped the Cougars register such a formidable run last year. Prior to joining the Cougars, Schroeder was the assistant coach for the Wisconsin Green Bay team.

WSU’s Director of Athletics Pat Chun proclaimed that the team and the players “are excited to name Korey as our head volleyball coach“. Schroeder’s energy and passion for the game will be like a fresh start for the new season and Chun said that the folks over at WSU are excited to witness Korey build and lead the team to new heights. But he might have some ideas on his sleeve.

Nuanced tactics to seal the deal

Last year was a history-making one for the Cougars. Schroeder laid extra focus on recruiting software to analyze the possible scenarios even before matches, which helped the WSU volleyball team to prepare with the worst-case scenarios in mind. Under Schroeder’s leadership, his players have won multiple national titles and his formulas are being backed up heavily in his new role as well.
