USWNT star Megan Rapinoe is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in the women’s game. Winning the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics revealed her to the world as a potential captain of the team. In an interview right after the 2019 World Cup, she revealed the celebrations which followed their incredible win.

Megan Rapinoe’s leadership skills as the captain of the OL Reign have impressed fans and critics alike. She served as the co-captain of the United States Women’s National Team in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. The United States played against the Netherlands in the World Cup final.
Megan Rapinoe on the World Cup win
Megan Rapinoe was a part of the winning squad in the 2019 FIFA World Cup. The team continued the USA’s tradition of winning the World Cup, once again making them the most successful team in women’s soccer. After three women’s World Cups in four previous finals appearances and four Olympic gold medals, the team’s winning record was unmatched. According to Rapinoe, the team lived up to the expectations and winning the World Cup gave her a huge sense of relief.

Speaking to the New York Times, she revealed the celebrations which followed. Rapinoe revealed that she has not asked for any gifts, but a Rolex is certainly on her mind for the past two years. As a Rolex was too extortionate, she changed her mind to private jets. Rapinoe flew in a private jet along with Alex Morgan for a Nike event in Paris.
Speaking on how the $35 billion worth company’s lavish treatment has changed her, she said, “The only way we were going to be able to make it all work was if we flew from Paris to St. Lucia on Nike’s plane. It was like the Ferrari of jets. That thing was so powerful. It’s ruined me forever.”
Rapinoe’s views on criticism
People criticized Megan Rapinoe multiple times for her outspoken personality and no-nonsense attitude. The Olympic gold medalist firmly stands for whatever she believes. Her efforts have been instrumental in revealing gender-based discrimination and fighting for equal pay for the women’s team.

In 2016, she kneeled during the national anthem when the USWNT was about to play against Thailand. Speaking on what she felt at that moment, Rapinoe said, “That was the most solid moment in my life where I was like, ‘I know that this is very controversial, I understand why people are upset and I’m going to continue to talk about it.'”
