Soccer star, Megan Rapinoe is arguably one of the most successful midfielders on the US Women’s soccer team. Megan eclipsed her role as a superstar soccer player to become an outspoken advocate against gender discrimination. She shed light on how inclusivity is important in modern society. Due to her outspoken nature, she has found herself in the middle of controversies multiple times.
Megan Rapinoe argued with her father once
As the presidential elections were underway in the United States, Megan was very openly supporting Joe Biden. She challenged the then President, Trump who was contesting elections as she believed that he was excluding certain groups of Americans. However, she recalled an incident when her father, Jim was approached by a news outlet after he voted for Trump in the 2016 election.
Rapinoe and her sister had a huge argument with their father after that. They did not talk to him for over a month revealed Megan. “How could you? ‘How could you vote for that heathen when you have g*y daughters?”, Rapinoe recalled yelling at her father along with her sister Rachael.

The soccer star revealed her dad started to object to their stance but they snapped back at the right moment. Rapinoe who came out as a lesb*an in 2012, worked hard to garner support for the LGBTQ community. Previously, she had made controversial comments about Trump and the White House due to which she received a lot of criticism.

Throughout her career, Megan has delivered unbelievable performances. She showcased great leadership skills on the field while serving as the captain of the OL Reign. Due to such qualities, she was promoted to the captain of the United States National Women’s Soccer Team for the FIFA world cup in 2018. However, her unbelievable comeback in 2014 after an injury was one of the most iconic moments of her career.
In 2014, Megan was injured for almost half of the season, but her comeback saved the day for her team. She scored four goals and assisted one goal thereby leading her team to a marvelous victory. Megan’s terrific performance helped her team, the OL Reign to win the NWSL’s regular title.
