“What the F*** Are You Doing”: Megan Rapinoe Was Shocked After Seeing Brother’s Reckless Behavior That Led Him to Prison in 1995

Megan Rapinoe is one of the most prominent names when it comes to women’s soccer. Her journey in international soccer always followed an exponential path and led her to the peak. Both her personal and professional life are full of barriers that try to pull her down. Nonetheless, with her bother Brian beside her, the athlete fears nothing.

The soccer enthusiastic brother once opened up about the time when Megan and her sister Rachel discovered his addiction to drugs. One can only imagine how heartbreaking it must have been for the athlete.

Megan Rapinoe shocked by brother’s addiction issues

The captain of USWNT, Megan Rapinoe, never failed to move fans through her performance. Her expertise in the field is transparent by now, given the number of accolades she bagged, especially in the international arena. Out of all people, Megan idolizes her brother Brian the most. Unfortunately, Megan found her brother practicing harmful habits when she was a teenager. It left her stunned.

“For many years, Megan and Rachael were pissed as hell,” said the athlete’s brother. “They still loved me, they still let me know they were there for me, but they were like, ‘What the f— are you doing?’”

Brian Rapinoe started taking drugs from a very young age; 12 years to be specific. Three years later, when Brian turned 15, he had to visit the juvenile detention center. The police found him possessing methamphetamine, following which he was arrested.

It didn’t end there. Brian was sentenced to prison for stealing a car when he was 18. The next two decades were just a repetition of the same. Going in and out of jail became his new normal then.

Megan and Brian were always there for one another

Nonetheless, Megan’s love and respect for her older brother never died. Like before, she still has a soft corner for him and knows his potential. According to the Olympian, rehab would have worked better for him instead of prison.

“For whatever reason, the drugs sunk their teeth into Brian. He didn’t need federal prison; he needed drug rehab,” said Megan Rapinoe.

Fans admire the sweet bond Megan and Brian share. The Olympic medalist always stood beside her brother, and so did Brian. Even if there was not a single person to take a stand for Megan, her brother would do that without a second thought.
