The year 2022 has been a season of retirement. Earlier this year, NFL legend, Tom Brady announced the end of his career before shortly making a U-turn on his retirement decision. Further, last month saw two of the greatest players in tennis, Serena Williams and Roger Federer bidding adieu to the sport. Recently, star USWNT striker, Alex Morgan hinted about her retirement.

The 33-year-old has been at the top of her game for around a decade now. She has had an illustrious club and international level career, scoring numerous world-class goals. However, with age not by her side, Morgan has hinted about bidding adieu to soccer.
Alex Morgan talks about love for soccer and career longevity
During the ‘We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle’ podcast, the USWNT striker opened up about her retirement plans and love for the sport. Talking about this, she said, “I love it more when I’m scoring more goals (laughs), but in general, do I love it? Umm, I think I do.”

Further, she added, “Sometimes I don’t but I’m ok with that like sometimes I just wake up and I don’t want to play like today. But it’s never that I don’t want to play for the rest of my career.”

Talking about bidding adieu to soccer, she said, “I think that’s ok and I’m at a point now if I don’t want to play like for another year or two or three years like I’m ok leaving soccer and I’m not at that point right now but I think a lot of athletes struggle with leaving their sport.”
Morgan leads San Diego Waves into NWSL semifinal
The 33-year-old scored a sensational 110th-minute strike to make the difference against Chicago Red Stars. In the keenly-contested playoff match, Morgan’s extra-time goal helped her team win 2-1 to make it to the last four of the NWSL.

San Diego Waves will take on Portland Thorns in the semifinal clash at Providence Park on October 23. The latter will look to become the first NWSL team to win the championship in its inaugural season.
