Megan Rapinoe has lifted the game in the case of women’s soccer. Not only is she skilled, but is smart enough to deal with issues inside and outside the team. She captains the OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League alongside the US national team. Her international soccer career began even before she turned 18. Megan is also renowned for her activism and bold nature. In the same vein, her feud with then-president Donald Trump was also pretty famous. After the athlete won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Trump posted a series of tweets that Megan felt were ridiculous.
Megan Rapinoe called them ridiculous
Megan and Trump have always been found on opposite sides, as their thoughts and opinions don’t match. The feud started because of their mismatched mindset regarding women’s empowerment. Rapinoe even called herself “a walking protest,” of Trump’s administration, stating his sexist and misogynistic nature.
2019 was one of the best years for the USWNT. They won the FIFA World Cup, and Megan, one of the team’s co-captain, received the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball. Apart from this, their protest for equal pay rights also gained momentum. With so many good things coming their way, Donald Trump’s tweets and his not-very welcoming reaction turned out to be one of the biggest concerns. Nevertheless, the soccer star did not pay much attention to it.
“It’s ridiculous and absurd,” said Megan when she was asked about Trump’s attacking tweets. “People were like: ‘That was so intense!’ And I’m like: ‘Honestly, he’s a f***ing joke, so it wasn’t intense, because this is ridiculous.’”
Megan likes to keep things simple, and her policy is noteworthy.
Megan’s daring decision after the FIFA
The team’s preparation for the 2019 FIFA World Cup was strong enough to top the leaderboard in no time. Although Megan suffered a hamstring injury during the semifinals, it couldn’t stop her from participating in the finals.
Even then, the fight between Megan and Trump was ongoing. Two weeks before the finals, the soccer icon was asked if she was excited to visit the White House after their triumph. Her reply to this is super daring.

After winning the tournament, too, she stuck to her decision. Megan wanted her teammates to make the right choice and understand that the then-administration didn’t believe in what they do as women athletes. So, the alignment would never match.
