“Go Win It”- Megan Rapinoe Barged In Opponent’s Interview to Motivate Her to Win Gold Medal at Olympics

Megan Rapinoe, the USWNT star, is favored for her astounding soccer skills. Not only in the nation, but her name has gained a considerable fan base all across the planet. Notably, her professional life is exponentially growing with a few downfalls. Nevertheless, Megan’s willpower is beyond strong. Given that, it doesn’t take much time for the athlete to get up and continue the journey.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics didn’t turn out to be fruitful for the US women’s national soccer team. The only way out of it was to accept it and move on. Megan did exactly that. 

Rapinoe intervened rival’s post-match interview

Megan Rapinoe, a big name in the soccer world, lost the Olympics semifinals in 2021. However, Megan gained the courage to go out of her way and wish the opponent team “good luck”.   

The match was against their frequent competitor, Canada, played at Ibaraki Kashima Stadium, Japan. It was their 62nd encounter on the soccer field, and where the Canadians took home the ticket to the finals.

The event ended with 1-0, where team Canada’s Jessie Fleming made a goal in the second-half penalty kick. During her TV interview, soccer legend Megan Rapinoe interrupted and pulled her for a hug. Furthermore, she wished them joy and encouraged them to win gold.

“Congratulations. Good luck. Good luck. Go win it.“ said the midfielder.

It was an immense loss for Megan and her team. Until the semifinals, the team kept hitting the benchmark with their performance. Their Olympic quest for gold was remarkable before this match. Nonetheless, they lost the semifinals to Canada, their long-time soccer rival.

It was during the 2012 London Olympics, where the two teams had a face-off in the semifinals before this. Team USA defeated their rival back then with a final score of 4-3. Unfortunately, luck was not on their side this time, and they lost their chance to perform in the finals.

It was heartbreaking for the athlete, and she called it “terrible”. Accepting that the shortcoming was on their end, the star player said it was not their best game. 

“It’s a bitter one to swallow,” said Megan after the match ended. “Obviously we never want to lose to Canada. I don’t think I’ve ever lost to Canada, so it’s a bitter one.“
