From soccer to activism to writing to investing, Megan has done it all. The athlete wants to own a private jet someday and is very careful about her investments. But even while investing, Megan is choosy and wants to do something impactful. 

Investing isn’t that simple for Megan

Megan Rapinoe, a name that won’t fade away easily, never fails to win hearts. Her captaincy helped the USWNT win several matches to date. Apart from being a soccer player, the athlete is also an activist who does not tolerate injustice and speaks about it. 

Just like Megan, her ways of doing things are also out of the ordinary. She has been into investments and financing for some time now. Even here, her approach is different and rare. Talking about her outlay philosophy, Megan said she tries doing two things in a go, which in this scenario means making money by doing something out of the box.

Megan likes bringing something new to the table. The investments she has done to date are “either in new, burgeoning spaces, or disruptive spaces.” Furthermore, she wants to stick to her financing keyword, which is “impact investing.”

“Of course, we’re trying to make money and to be successful, but we also want something that’s going to be disruptive and provide a new way forward,” said the Olympic champ once in an interview. “I don’t think we can just continue to do the same things.”

In 2019, just after USWNT’s monumental victory, Megan revealed she wanted to gift herself a jet. Earlier the same year, she took a trip to Paris with Alex Morgan for a photo shoot in a private jet. She fell in love with jets then and wanted to own one.

Megan’s investment portfolio includes fashion, mental health, and sports. Last year, she also invested in STATSports, a sports-based company.

2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup was one of the most prominent tournaments in USWNT history. Captain Rapinoe won the Golden Boot as well as the Golden Ball. Furthermore, she was the best FIFA Women’s Player that season. During the award ceremony in Milan, she spoke about the opportunities soccer provides and gave insights into how powerful the athletes are.

“We have a unique opportunity in football different to any other sport in the world,” said Megan Rapinoe. “We have such an incredible opportunity being professional football players. Lend your platform to other people, lift other people up, share your success, just do something, do anything. We have incredible power in this room.”
