Soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe has been an essential part of the USWNT. However, what makes Rapinoe special is arguably her outspoken personality and her courage. But sometimes, she has faced backlash for pointing out her opinions. And much of that backlash has come from former US President Donald Trump.

In addition, there was a time when current US President Joe Biden awarded the star the Presidential Medal of Freedom. However, this prompted a strong reaction from Trump’s attorney. She made a few tweets that showcased her views on the athlete.

Jenna Ellis’ tweet for Megan Rapinoe

Trump’s attorney Jenna Ellis targeted Megan Rapinoe in a tweet. And she also mentioned the gymnastics legend, Simone Biles.

She wrote, “Fittingly, Biden awarded his presidential medals to fellow losers, Biles and Rapinoe.” However, as Rapinoe and Biles’ fans started questioning her sensibility, she further stood by her stance, stating, “Because Biles is a selfish quitter and Rapinoe is a boorish unAmerican bully. They’re losers, not role models. Biden is making a mockery of everything solemn, like the presidential medal of freedom.”

Megan Rapinoe never publicly responded to the comments made by Ellis. However, Simone, who has never politically stated hate comments, responded to Jenna’s tweet; asking her fans who Jenna Ellis is.

Megan facing difficulties throughout her career

The Olympic gold medalist’s skills have undoubtedly contributed significantly to the success of her team. Her off-the-field persona and outspoken nature have often led to her being criticized for her views online. Despite these challenges, she continues to speak out against societal issues like gender discrimination.

Megan Rapinoe’s disagreements with Trump became public when she knelt during the national anthem before a game. She did this as a protest against police brutality and racial discrimination, a statement first made by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in 2016.
