What is special about Skateboarding at the Paris Olympics?
The buzz for skateboarding is real for the Paris Olympics. After making its debut at the Tokyo Olympics, it’s back for more action on the streets of the French capital. With two events, namely, Park and Street, where athletes will perform their most impressive tricks on different courses that resemble the urban environments where skateboarding started out.
Being a part of the cool urban sports cluster that includes breaking, BMX freestyle, and basketball 3×3, this Olympic would be special for skateboarding. Talking about numbers, there would be a total of 88 skateboarding athletes, split evenly between men and women, competing for the top spot.
Qualifying for this spectacle will be based on the Olympic World Skateboarding Rankings and the Olympic Qualifier Series – a fresh three-event qualifier happening between March and June. The Olympic Street Challenge is a unique opportunity for fans of urban sports to join the Olympic movement and express their creativity and passion. By participating in the contest, they can also support their favorite athletes and learn from their skills and tips.
