While the Olympics is generally the show stealer, the Paralympics is another stage that attracts significant attention from all over the world. All Olympic athletes must overcome multiple obstacles to win gold at the world’s most coveted sporting event. However, emerging as the winner as a Paralympian can become a more daunting task. Athletes from around the globe are looking at the Paris Paralympics 2024 to establish themselves as formidable forces in their respective sports. The Parapan American Games at Santiago, Chile is being followed by every sports enthusiast across the nation as the gateway for next year’s Paralympics. After the US wheelchair rugby team’s achievement, the official Twitter handle of the US Olympics team shared a booming announcement: “PARIS, HERE THEY COME!“. Understandably, this achievement has given Team USA a major dream to look forward to at the Paris Paralympics.

The US wheelchair team has triumphed over their Canadian comrades with a 57-51 win. While Canada had to take a step back and settle for silver at the Parapan American Games, the US team automatically qualified for the Paris Paralympics by default. Canada didn’t lose a single match throughout the entire tournament, only to succumb to the USA team’s superiority in the final.

Along with securing a berth in the Paris Paralympics 2024, the US wheelchair rugby team made another historic achievement at Santiago. Sarah Adam, part of the US team, is the first-ever woman to win a gold medal at the Parapan American Games. Despite being a mixed sport, there hasn’t yet been a female athlete as part of the winning team before last Thursday.

While the wheelchair rugby team’s Paralympics possibilities will make the days ahead gleeful for many Americans, the national female sitting volleyball team is also looking to win its third straight gold medal in Paris next year. With the legendary Bill Hamiter behind them, the female sitting team is hopeful about its performance.
