Like Noah Lyles has stated, “World records are meant to be broken” as he aims for a quadruple besides breaking Usain Bolt’s world record in the 100 and 200-meter dash, Sha’carri too reveals what’s on her bucket list for the upcoming Olympics. When Richardson was asked what she aspires to achieve someday that she hasn’t yet, she immediately replied, “multiple Olympic gold medals”. While Sha’carri has already been announced for 100-meter and 200-meter, her fans might see her in the 4×100 mixed relay team for the U.S. This might be the opportunity for Richardson to fulfill her dream of chasing multiple Olympics gold.

Securing her place on Team USA and seizing her chance at Olympic glory is what Richardson is waiting for. Because “all the training, all of the support, all of the naysayers, it pays off. It pays off in that moment when you realize when you made that Olympic team”, stated Sha’carri. After she won the 100-meter dash at the 2021 Olympics trials, she unexpectedly tested positive for THC. This cost her a spot in the Tokyo Olympics. “It’s slowly sinking in because when I look in the mirror, I’m just like, ‘You are a world champion. You deserve that. You’ve worked for that,” said Richardson. Evaluating her self-worth she is now ready to conquer the tracks and aim to fulfil her aspirations in Paris.

After she was disqualified from the Tokyo Olympics, Richardson made her comeback the very same year at the 2021 Prefontaine Classics but could not aim for the winning position. Finally in 2023, at the World Championships, Sha’carri Richardson became the ‘fastest woman in the world’ in the 100-meter dash by clocking a time of 10.82 seconds. At the time, she said, “I’m better, I’m stronger and I’m wiser.” Now as the U.S Trials Prelims are to begin on June 27, Sha’carri would aim for a ticket to Paris.

If she wins the 100-meter title, Sha’carri could become the first American woman sprinter after Florence Griffith-Joyner to be on top at the event. But in this journey, she is not alone as her family has been her pillar of strength. “My family is so special to me, only for the fact that they know me, supported me and been there for me much longer than I even knew I was going to be who I was. They knew who I was going to be before I even put it together”, stated Sha’carri Richardson. Fueled by passion and determination, she’s gearing up to secure a ticket to the Paris Olympics at the upcoming track and field trials on June 27, aiming to return from Paris with gold and glory.
