Due to the ongoing environmental protests, the Diamond League men’s 400m race held on Sunday has become a topic of discourse. The race took place in Stockholm, Sweden, and the runners had to hurdle due to the interruption between the track. The Norway Olympic champion, Karston Warholm, won the race. However, the athlete was disappointed by this disrespectful breakthrough of the protestors. 

Warholm expressed his disappointment after the race by saying that protests are permitted, but this is not the right way. It also seems uncivil to those who put in their hard work and training to do an excellent job. The video of the race is now viral across the world, and many fans have also backlashed the protestors for their juvenile deed. A Twitter handle name Rori Dunk has also posted the video mentioning the disruption during the race. The tweet gained a massive fan reaction to the racing video. 

Protestors stormed on Wanda Diamond League in Stockholm

The environmental protestors were seen kneeling on the track, holding banners intending the runners to break through them. They were sitting about eight yards from the finishing line, which interrupted the racers to run forward to the line. Rori Dunk stated, “Protestors stormed the track in today’s diamond league! Disrupting the men’s 400mh finish. It is unclear what they were protesting at this moment”. However, the athletes reported no injuries despite the hinder in their race. Warholm also stated that he was pissed off by the poor action taken by the protestors.

Karston Warholm later joined the crowd booing the protestors, although Warholm did not have any protesting banners on his lane to disrupt his race. But this act disrupted the other runners, and they all bumped into the banners. The runners were visibly angry with the protestors for the consequence of ‘all for nothing.’ Many people, especially sports enthusiasts, came across the video on Twitter and were instantly inflamed by the poor achievement of the protestors.

After the tweet was posted by Rori Dunk, people blasted the ill safety measurements by the protestors. Fans disliked how careless and mean the protestors were, as their actions could lead to terrible accidents.

Therefore, this misconduct was highly criticized by everyone thinking about the safety lengths. Despite the obstacles, Karston Warholm won the 400M men’s Diamond League race. However, other runners broke through the protesters as their race was disrupted by hurdle banners.
