Acknowledging at challenges that the race posed, one of the users wrote, “200m world record is the toughest one to break in all of the track.”

Erriyon Knighton, the youngster who beat Usain’s U-18 record

For many years, Usain’s under 18 200m record remained unbroken until 18-year-old Erriyon Knighton took the central stage. The American sprinter has no Olympic titles to his name. But that did not stop him from grabbing the headlines. Touching the finishing line at 20.11 seconds, he took away the limelight.

With his stellar performance, the young man registered his name amongst the list of legends. For the unversed last year at Tokyo Olympics, he finished 4th at 200m. He was selected for the USA Olympic team in June 2021 at the age of 17, making him the youngest American male to do so in 57 years. Erriyon is undoubtedly a star in the making.
