It wasn’t the best end to a great season for Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson. The duo is enjoying the titles of current world champions but had to face an upsetting defeat at the ongoing Prefontaine Classic 2023. Lyles finished second against his American companion, Christian Coleman, while Richardson could not even secure any of the top three spots. Lyles took a moment after the heat to share his views on the race, and he also revealed that it’s a Jamaican female runner whom he admires the most and not Sha’Carri Richardson.

During a post-race conversation, as he was discussing his second-place finish, he noticed women lining up for the 100-meter heat. While still in the interview, he made the aforementioned statement as he observed the race.

As Lyles was talking about the race with CITIUS MAG on their YouTube channel, he saw the 100-meter women’s race start to unfold. He revealed his number to the reporter saying, “Sha’Carri; she hasn’t lost to Shericka yet this year. So, it’s kind of hard because Shericka is always going to be my number one.” While he backs Richardson to win, the one who Lyles says is his number one wins the race. When Jackson claimed the victory against Richardson, Lyles applauds her by stating, “There it is, consistent.”

It was Shericka Jackson and Christian Coleman who defeated the reigning 100-meter world champion American duo Richardson and Lyles at the ongoing Diamond League finals. The two posted a major upset and claimed the glittering Diamond Trophy. Lyles placed second with 9.85 seconds against Coleman’s 9.83 seconds, while Richardson placed fourth with a 10.80-second finish. Lyles might not have finished in the top spot, but he has no regrets, as per his claims in the interview.

Lyles was asked if it was the last meet of the season and he came out to perform in the finals, and how does it feel? To this, he replied that it felt great. He added that he was just going to have fun, and he got his second-fastest time of the season, which means he is still in his peak condition. Lyles is not disappointed to put out a time like that and is happy that he is still able to go straight from the gun, as per his claims in the interview.
