Controversies have always surrounded track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson, and yet, the 23-year-old athlete has never shied away from speaking her mind. Not one to be afraid of calling out other people, owing to their repercussions, Richardson says and does what she believes in her heart. In 2021, amidst her string of unfortunate events, Richardson was not amused by Allyson Felix’s show of solidarity and took a dig at her soon after. She was also given a word of advice by the great Usain Bolt, but Richardson’s response was that of a cold shoulder.

Now, two years after those incidents, when she finally looked like she got the ball rolling in her athletics career, Richardson drops a bombshell comment where she accuses every senior and veteran athlete of being part of a system that she is fighting against.

Sha’Carri Richardson recently took to her Instagram and wrote, “If you watch the fire burn, you?re just as bad as the person that started it”. With that quote, Richardson blatantly called out all those former athletics giants who remained nameless, but who she believes just stood by and didn’t raise their voices when unfairness and injustice prevailed in the whole athletics administration.

She also made a video, where she said, “When it comes to what we as athletes are trying to do, you guys like to say, ‘Oh! But we need bigger names, we need the people that have the attention and the audience to come in when in reality these are the same people that benefit from this corrupt system. Most of your favorite track athletes, most of them, most famous track athletes… will not speak up and did not speak up because they benefit from what was going on in the system”.

Despite hardships, Richardson always keeps battling hard

Just a few days ago, Sha’Carri Richardson boldly talked about how the change in TV rights for the 2023 USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, might be setting the track and field world backward. The competition will not be aired on NBC, as it always did previously, but instead on CNBC and USATF TV, which is a huge drop in viewership.?In 2021, when she was banned from the Tokyo Olympics, followed by the death of her biological mother, Richardson was having the hardest time of her life. Allyson Felix and Usain Bolt actually spoke words of encouragement to her on different platforms, but Richardson gave a reality check by revealing how neither have they reached out to her personally, but instead spoke about her indirectly.

Richardson has been having a golden year in 2023, winning races in the Diamond League, Miramar Invitational, Kip Keino Classic, etc, which has certainly made her garner all the love and attention from fans. But that certainly doesn’t make her cushioned enough to not speak her mind for fear of triggering a few people.
