Last month, Johnny Reid created a world record by running 60 meters in 8.49 seconds. Although the 60-year-old is currently enjoying her glorious win, it was not an easy journey for the sprinter.

Passionate about running, Reid began her journey 10 years ago. However, she did not get complete training where she practiced before. During her interview, Reid revealed that she learned a lot about running on her own.

She stated that she was never taught how to come out of running blocks in a race. It is a very crucial part of any running competition. She told, “They never taught us how to come out of the blocks, how to explode how to drive.” Hence, the 60-year-old found a solution to improve her skills. The Naples native revealed that she used YouTube to learn many effective skills as a runner. Moreover, she received immense support from her family.

Ultimately, everything that she learned finally paid off at the USA Track and Field Masters Championship. Reid stated that she took her training very seriously throughout the years and, after winning her first world record, she has no plans to stop.
