Yesterday, Christian Coleman kept the fanfare at the utmost level with his seasonal best performance in the World Athletics Indoor Championships of 2024. The Glasgow Commonwealth Center witnessed the anticipation between Coleman and Noah Lyles unfolding in a mixed hue of rivalry and camaraderie. The reigning outdoor champion digested his defeat to his American counterpart. But he was no less than a merrier fan of Christian Coleman, who watched the phenom running from the closest distance gleefully in the event. On the other hand, things were different for shot putter Ryan Crouser. 

The Olympic champion and world record holder had nothing to prove. But a concerned USATF brought Kibwe Johnson, the Olympic legend to train the lanky American, barring any loose end. The result came out as stakeholders wanted- a victory with creating a tournament record. But today, the world will watch someone who has already become the namesake of the 60mH event in the men’s category- Grant Holloway. The world champion has avoided defeat in the event for the last 10 years.

Moreover, Katie Moon and Sandi Morris will face each other today in the pole vault event. However, all these battle royals will feature in the afternoon session. Before that, the morning session will not lack in flaunting the sporting legacy. So, let’s be the audience again of that legacy, without any delay.

Now, the prized fights are on the way to set the track and field communities’ zeal at the highest level. The pole vault teams as well as the middle-distance runners are now gathering at the fence line of the Indore arena.

19:05: Pole Vault Women’s Final 

Sandi Morris is gathering her share of applause on the foreign soil right now. Molly Caudery is there in front of her home crowds with the season’s best height this time. The reigning Olympic champion Katie Moon is on the other side with her resolute determination against her American teammate.

 

Almost half of the bunch is standing right now after reaching the 4.55-meter height on the first attempt.

Sandi Morris is keeping her stellar performance, giving a vibe similar to her performance last time in Belgrade in 2022.

Margot Chevrier has broken her ankle while trying her pole vault. This is the second occasion in the pole vault event in the last two days, where such a mishap occurred.

Eliza McCartney has lost the chance of earning the gold medal as the New Zealander has to be satisfied with the silver medal.

This time the World Athletics Indoor Championship is set to receive a new winner, barring Sandi Morris’s chance.

Molly Caudery is the new world indoor champion in the pole vault. She has achieved the rare occasion of gaining the world championship in front of the home crowd.

19:10: 60 meters Hurdles Semi-Final Men:

The heat 1 for the final berth is also unfolding simultaneously. Milan Trajkovic has qualified for the final with his season-best 7:53 timing. Asier Martinez is facing an issue due to his false start from the start of the event.

Asier Martinez has been handed disqualification. Replacing him, Micahel Obasuyi has become the runner-up in that heat.

In heat 2, Trey Cunningham’s fiery form helped him earn the qualification for the final. 7:49 timing helped him to beat others. David King, the local participant had to bow out from the competition.

Grant Holloway crossed each one with rocket speed, completing the race in  7:32 timing, and qualifying for the final in the 60mH event.

Jakub Szymanski made the national record, behind Grant Holloway. However, Holloway’s timing is bound to enter as one of his best timings in the 60mH event record book.

19:30: High Jump Men’s Heptathlon Semi-Final 

Sander Skothem and Ken Mullings have now shifted to the high jump event under the heptathlon to gather points.

19:40: Triple Jump Men’s Final 

Hugues Fabrice Zango is keeping the top position under his realm so far. He is ahead of Indian opponent Pravenn Chithravel.

Algerian talent, Yasser Mohammed Triki is now gearing up to get the top position. He has already registered jump measurement better than Zango.

Zango has confirmed his gold medal in the event.

19: 45: 60 Meters Women Semi-Final 

In the heat 1, Ewa Swoboda has claimed the world-leading 6.98 timing.

The US athlete, Celera Barnes could not repeat her previous performance in the semi-final heat. However, in the heat 2, Aleaia Hobbs is up for maintaining American pride.

Aleia Hobbs has stepped into the final with a timing of 7.04. Zaynab Dosso stopped just 0.01 seconds behind her.

Aleia Hobbs has just evaded an injury scare as she hit the padded wall with her heel after finishing her run. However, after an inquiry, the former NCAA starlet has informed about her well-being.

Julien Alfred has topped the list again, with the timing of 7:03 in the heat 3. Mikiah Brisco, this time as well could not defeat her, staying just 0.07 seconds behind.

20:15: 3000 Meters Women’s Final

Elle Purrier St. Pierre is here, after cementing her name in the US national title.

Gudaf Tsegay is fortifying her 3000m base in Glasgow as well.

Elle St. Pierre has become the new world indoor champion in 3000m with the fourth fastest time in the tournament history. She took 8:20.87 to defeat Tsegay in the final. Now, she holds the world record of being the first American champion in the 3000m Indore event in the women’s category. Her family witnessed the history from the gallery.

20:40: 3000 Meters Men’s Final 

Josh Kerr, the British world champion is rearing to going the event. However, he would face a tough challenge from the American prodigy, Yared Nuguse in the event.

Josh Kerr and Yared Nuguse are trying their best chance to earn glory in the uncharted avenue of World Indoor events.

Subsequently, they have made the first and second rank in the title ultimately.

Josh Kerr is now the new 3000m world indoor champion with a clocking of 7:42.98. Nuguse had to score his season best to stay in the runner-up position.

21:00: 400 Meters Women’s Final 

Femke Bol won the event by creating a world record (49.17). Her Dutch counterpart, Lieke Klaver claimed the second position.

USA athlete Talitha Diggs made her season’s best timing. But a fifth position came to her possession.

21:10: 400 Meters Men’s Final 

Alexander Doom edged Karsten Warholm to the second position in the final. The lack of experience overpowered Warholm’s happy experience in Glasgow.

Doom made the national record taking 45.25 to clear the final ribbon. The Viking remained 0.09 seconds behind to miss the gold medal.

21:30: 60 Meters Hurdles Men’s Final

Grant Holloway has picked up another 60 mH gold as in Glasgow he has won the bout by making a record. His 7.29 has earned the registration as the current record. This is second-fastest record in the event’s history.

A satisfied Christian Coleman is cheering from the gallery.

Holloway has become the face of the event in the last 10 years. in the record book, most of the 60mH records belong to him now.

This time, Lorenzo Simonelli remained 0.14 seconds behind the American champion, even after making the national record.

21:45 60 Meters Women’s Final 

Aleia Hobbs is not showing intent as the injury from the semi-final is usurping her chance.

Julien Alred is now the new World Athletic Indoor Champion in 2024 in60m category. Her timing of 6.98 has come out to be the world-leading time.

This year, Julien Alfred is yet to face a single defeat in the 60m event. Previously, she achieved the top podium in the NM Classic and Millrose Games. Keeping her performances in the fore, St. Lucia would see an Olympic participation chance in the coming days.

 

Morning session:

10:00 am: Long Jump Men Final 

American chance Jarrion Lawson is lagging as of now. Miltiadis Tentoglou is leading the bunch right now.

the strong tussle has shifted between Tentoglou and the teenager, Mattia Furlani now.

Jarrion Lawson is losing his air as the American has gone more south in the leaderboard as of now.

After the third attempt, Lawson has entered the top 3 in the leaderboard. However, the top two positions are still under the holding of Tentoglou and Furlani.

Jarrion Lawson is picking the pace quietly to overpower the top two phenoms right now.

William Williams, another American log jumper in the event, is steadily losing his position to the opponents.

Matia Furlani has been in first place for a while. However, it took a few moments for Tentoglou to snatch the order from the teenager again.

Carey McLeod has received the crowd’s cheering as he has crossed 8.21 m in the long jump final in the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024.

Mattia Furlani is giving his heart out to come to the top in the event. Remember, the World Junior Indoor record holder is yet to face a single defeat this year.

However, Tentoglou is almost on his successful way to defend his World Athletics Indoor Championship gold from the Belgrade edition.

10:10 am: 60 Meters Hurdles Men Heats

Grant Holloway has cleared the qualification mark with a clocking of 7.43 in the heat.

This timing is not his highest this year. But there’s no smearing point as a few weeks ago the 26-year-old trailblazing track and field athlete took down the world leading time.

In the heat 2, Wilhelm Belocian has claimed the top position to find a berth in the semi-final. His timing has come at 7.47 seconds. The British athlete, David King, has maintained his fame as he has also watched himself sneaking into the semi-final.

Cameron Murray is in the heat 3. He has qualified with a timing of 7.61. However, Jakub Szymański, the former World Junior podium finisher has defeated him in coming the second position.

In heat 4, Milan Trajkovic has topped the table.

In heat 5, Lorenzo Ndele Simonelli has taken 7.61 to stay at the top. Amine Bouanani and Mosese Foliaki are the subsequent ones on the list.

Grant Holloway’s arch-rival, Trey Cunningham, has entered the semi-final by adding his name at the top position in the heat 6. The former NCAA indoor champion has stopped miles away from Grant’s timing to qualify in the final. However, the American duo’s camaraderie is no short of that of Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman.

11:00 am: 60 Meters Men Heptathlon 

It is time to shift attention to the heptathlon event in the men’s category. The first heat is about to begin. Harrison Williams is present at the event to add the American challenge to other opponents. The 27-year-old already holds several accolades in the NCAA indoor events from the past.

Expectedly, he claimed the leading timing in the heat. In fact, it came out to be his season’s best, 6.95. That was enough to send to the semi-final.

In heat 2, Simon Ehammer earned his entry pass to the semi-final, winning the race in his season’s best time.

11:20 am: 60 Meters Women Heats 

Last time, In Belgrade, Vitoria Cristina Rosa had a forgettable performance in the World Athletics Championships. But this time, in Glasgow she is taking her chance to change the record.

However, she will have to wait for the next World Athletics Indoor Championship as she could get the 4th position today in the heat. Geraldine Frey has earned the first position in his first year.

Briana Williams has seen defeat at Ewa Swoboda’s sprinting prowess as the latter has claimed the opposition in heat 2 of the event. The Jamaican has made her chance at the second position. They will face each other again in the semi-final.

Mikiah Brisco and Julien Alfred are facing each other again.

The St. Lucian who once had Sha’Carri Richardson’s support crossed the final marking in 7.02 timing almost effortlessly. Brisco remained just behind her.

The heat 4 is currently underway. Belgian indoor specialist Rani Rosius earned the position in the heat. With her personal best timing of 7.12, she defeated Zoe Hobbs, the New Zealander athlete.

Celera Barnes is on the heat 5, but she has just crashed in the event.

Even after that, she has managed to get the second position in the heat. Gina Bass has remained ahead of her by a 200th fraction of a second. That has been the intrigue of the race.

In heat 6, Olympian Shashalee Forbes came to the runner-up potion as Zaynab Dosso claimed the peak position.

In the heat 7, Aleia Hobbs earned her qualification after winning the heat in 7.07 seconds. The Olympic silver medalist was not very comfortable on the track, though. Perhaps, missing a morning-alarm was the contributing reason!

12:10 pm: 800 Meters Women Semi-Final

Several records took place in the first heat as topper Tsige Duguma claimed her personal best whereas the next 4 sprinters came out with their either personal bests or national records.

In the heats, the first three podium finishers will reach the semi-final berth.

The second heat is going to hold a humongous anticipation. The popular choice, Jemma Reekie took down the opponents with a timing of 1:58.28. Habitam Alemu and Halimah Naakayi crossed the ending line under the 2-minute category. Moreover, Reekie already holds the fastest timing in the event this year.

Yesterday, Jemma Reekie vociferously expressed her excitation after uncapping the World Athletics Indoor Championships successfully.

12:15 pm: Long Jump Men Heptathlon 

In the long jump event, Simon Ehammer is thoroughly enjoying his top form.

Again, Simon Hammer tried his 8-meter jump. But this time, a technical fault bared him to make the jump in his name. The audience eagerly anticipated seeing the flurry of 8-meter jumps from the Swiss athlete.

As of now, only he holds the superiority of posting the 8-meter jumps in the event.

The American contender, Harrison Williams, backed out from the event.

Simon Hammer has ended the event by staying at the top.

12:30 pm: 800 Meters Men Semi-Final

Isaiah Harris from the USA came to the 4th in the first heat as Mariano Garcia usurped the race with 1:47.83 timing.

Bryce Hoppel earned his qualification for the final with a leading timing of 1:45.08, defeating Eliott Crestan and Benjamin Robert. Mohamed Ali Gouaned faced a sprained ankle and as a result, he backed out from the race. However, the eclectic American sprinter outpoured his merriment of reaching the final in the 800 m event after finishing the race.

13:35 pm: Shot Put Men Heptathlon 

American participant Harrison Wiliams is keeping his distance from the event as well. However, Sander Skotheim is taking the lead right now.

Norwegian Markus Rooth is at the peak right now.

Simon Ehammer is lagging in the 7th position, away from repeating his performance during the past two events in the heptathlon.

Makenson Gletty has made a big throw of 15.89 to stay in the competition. A large shift over in the ranking is on the road, it seems.

Roman Sebrle is present at the sideline- arguably the finest decathlon athlete of all time. But the former Czech Republic star is here in Glasgow, flaunting his mentor role.

Gletty already claimed his personal best to stay at the top of the competitors.
