With each passing day, the thrill and fervor for the Paris Olympics 2024 are getting real. The fans and the athletes are all girded up to grace the French multisport event kicking off on July 26, 2024. The quadrennium event will witness some of the most talented athletes battling it out for the podium finish in 135 days. Dakotah Lindwurm is one such American name who has already fixed her spot for the event and will be representing her nation at the competition.

The marathon athlete from the United States has some high hopes for the event, and she seems to be pretty excited as well. During an interview, Lindwurm shared some insights on how she is preparing for the event and what she finds most exhilarating about the games apart from her professional commitments.

The 28-year-old track and field prodigy had an exclusive chit-chat session with NBC Sports Boston on their YouTube channel on Tuesday. While she was sharing her excitement for the participation, Dakotah Lindwurm was asked about what she was most excited about in the Olympic experience, aside from the race itself, considering the marathon falls towards the end of the two weeks. To which she replied, “It’s hard to narrow it down to one. My family, I’ve got quite a bit of family coming over my, my dad’s never even been outside the country, so I think I’m excited to watch him experience something so new.”

The St. Francis native further expressed that it is a rare experience to witness parents having new experiences in their lives. She also mentioned looking forward to “the coffee and the food and getting that side of Ferris also.” Furthermore, her inspiring journey of making it to the USA and heading to Paris is notable, as she is the first athlete from Minnesota to secure a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

Her journey towards the Olympic dream

On February 4th, Dakotah Lindwurm etched her name in the annals of American marathon history following her third-place finish in the women’s Olympic trials. The young phenom clocked an incredible time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 31 seconds. Fiona O’Keeffe with 2:22:10 and Emily Sisson with 2:22:42 are her other two counterparts who finished ahead of her.

It was also the fastest-ever Olympic Trial podium finish for women in history. Now, as a member of the Minnesota Distance Elite training team, Lindwurm is focused on the Olympics under the guidance of coach Chris Lundstrom. The two are poised and making every effort to ensure Lindwurm ends up on the podium, bringing glory to the United States.
