Since the birth of their son in 2022, Leanne has maintained both her academic advising career and her essential role as a pillar in Sam’s life and professions. Living in her Mississippi home, she maintains equilibrium between her relationships, professional pursuits, and the intensive challenges of high-level competition.

Leanne Zimmer builds her professional profile through experiences in athletics with academic study as well as mentoring others in her career. During her time as a Mississippi University student, Leanne pursued track and field through her Division I sporting career by specializing in middle-distance races, particularly the 800m act. Her time as a student-athlete developed within her a firm dedication to discipline, along with teamwork abilities and leadership skills that proved instrumental in her professional life.

Leanne’s athletic abilities of competitive running have transformed into a professional foundation, although she now competes at a different stage of life. She used her master’s degree in higher education administration to serve students at Ole Miss after completing her program. Leanne’s roles at Ole Miss concentrated on helping students succeed and persist by serving first as the Coordinator of First Year Experience and then as an Academic Mentor.

Through her role as a university student mentor at the Center for Student Success and when serving as a graduate assistant, she demonstrated her dedication to student success at Ole Miss.

Sam Kendricks started dating Leanne Zimmer during their student years as athletic champions at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). During their time at the University of Mississippi, Sam reached new athletic milestones as a pole vaulter, and Leanne excelled in middle-distance running with her specialty being the 800 meters.
Their common dedication to competition joined with disciplined training and the constant drive to succeed, naturally combined them into a relationship. The couple officially married on December 29th, 2017, in the Jefferson building located in Oxford, Mississippi.
