Omanyala’s big family and her relationship with her siblings’ kids influenced Laventa’s early years. Her primary education happened at Kaimosi Junior and then at Erusi Girls. At Kaimosi Girls, her father’s passing during her senior year of high school marked a critical time. She did, however, finish school and enroll at Moi University, despite the loss.

Moreover, Laventa took a go at modeling while in college and took on several other jobs to help her out financially. During the 2017 World University Games, she participated in athletics and battled severe rivals for her first international experience. Her plan to become an athlete was temporarily shelved when she discovered she was pregnant after the games.

Further, in 2016 at an athletics tournament, Laventa met Ferdinand Omanyala. Throughout the years, their friendship flourished despite a difficult beginning. Omanyala, who switched from rugby to athletics, left a lasting effect. During team games in Nakuru, they crossed paths again, and after a few meetings, their friendship developed into something more.
