If Fearless was a person, it would be Allyson Felix. The unrivaled number of Olympic appearances added 7 golds to her purse. The 20x World medalist drew a line to her storied career because she ” can do different things”, and one of them is being an exceptional mother. Birthing Camryn has not been easy considering the complications she faced during her pregnancy. But looking at the 5-year-old now, nobody can fathom the horrors she was saved from.
Around Thanksgiving 2023, Felix and her husband Kenneth Ferguson announced the incoming of their second child. In an Instagram post, the family of three was ready to usher in the fourth member. Having moved past the traumas of her first childbirth, when is the Olympian birthing her second baby?

In November 2023, the athletic couple announced that a baby boy was on board. The Instagram post was captioned, “Thanksgiving blessings! Adding a little more love to our family“. Interestingly, the pregnancy shoot that featured the three, also had a small blackboard with “BABY BROTHER COMING APRIL 2024” written on it. Cammy held it close to her heart while sporting an adorable smile. Although the family has concealed the exact date, they confirmed the month.

In an interview, Felix said, “I wasn’t dealing with all the drama from before. Now, yeah, I don’t have to train at 4 o’clock in the morning and do all that crazy stuff so that part is good.” But her pregnancy didn’t stop her from moving. She does pilates, stretching, running, hiking, and tennis while managing a 5-year-old. Her “planned-out system” includes Chobani yogurt for breakfast and salads for lunch. But for dinner, she indulges in meat, fish, brown rice and veggies. Now, let’s trace back to 2018.
Felix’s tear-jerking pregnancy story
On November 28, 2018, Cammy’s life was saved by the neonatal intensive care unit. Having struck by pre-eclampsia during her 32nd week came as a blow to the Olympian. Pre-eclampsia, a potentially life-threatening condition, is a product of high blood pressure, resulting in a complicated child delivery process. Within 48 hours, Felix found herself in the hospital bed, delivering her baby via an emergency C-section. Both of their lives were in jeopardy then, but that was a learning experience for the speedster.

Since pre-eclampsia is commonly found in African American women, she jumped to the rescue. Since then, her expectant Black mothers’ advocacy kick-started, which is still going strong. “Being a mom is a privilege“, said the one who almost lost her beloved Cammy. On her way to welcome her baby boy, she is constantly learning from her mom, friends, and mentors, and living a healthy life.
