As days pass by, the track and field enthusiasts are starting to gird up for the Paris Olympics 2024. Not just the enthusiasts, the athletes have already begun their training to deliver their best in the event. The biggest names like Noah Lyles Sha’carri Richardson, Mondo Duplantis, Ryan Crouser, and so many other athletes are already getting themselves ready to stand atop the podium in their respective expertise.

However, every athlete, to reach their final destination at the Paris Olympics, has to qualify for their events. There is a basic standard set for every event to qualify for Paris. Let’s have a panoramic view of these standards set for both the men and women athletes.

The qualification standard for the Paris Olympics 2024

The Paris Olympics 2024 will be up from the 26th of July 2024 to the 11th of August 2024. The track and field will consist of 48 medal events covering three distinct sets: track and field, road running, and racewalking. The track and field events will be staged at the iconic State de France. All the track and field events have their qualification timings.

Starting with the 100m race, the entry standard for men is 10.00. Multiple outstanding athletes will be seen showcasing their talent in this event including World Champion Noah Lyles. In the women’s category, the qualification standard for the Paris Olympics is 11.07, where prodigies like Sha’carri Richardson, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah, and so many more will be seen delivering their best.

The quality standard for the Men’s 200m is 20.16 and the same for the women is 22.57 with phenomenal prodigies on the roster. Next on the list is the 400m which has the timing set of 45.00 for men and 50.95 for the women’s team.

Timings for long-distance running and others

After the 400m race is the 800m with the timings to be 1:44.70 for men and 1:59.30 for women. Then comes the 1500m Mile with the timings of 3:33.50 for men and 4:02.50 for women. For the 5000m, the men will have to clock a time of 13:05.000 and women will have to go for 14:52.00 for the Paris Olympics.

The 10,000m standard for men is 27:00.00 and for women is 30:40.00. 110m or 100m Hurdles have their timings set at 13.27 for men and 12.77 for women. The 400, hurdles are 48.70 and 54.85 for men and women respectively. In the 3000m Steeplechase, the standard for men is 8:15.00 and 9:23.00 for women.

The high jump comes with the standard of 2.33 and 1.97 for men and women respectively. The Pole Vault has a timing of 5.82 and 4.73 for the men and women athletes. The men and women athletes participating in the Long Jump must clock the points of 8.27 and 6.86 respectively. Then, next on the roster is the Triple Jump with the standard of 17.22 and 14.55 for both men and women.

To qualify for the shot put, 21.50 is the standard for men and 18.80 is the standard for women. Discus Throw has a qualification set of 67.20 for men and 64.50 for women. There are others like the Hammer Throw with points of 78.20 and 74.00 for men and women, then the Javelin Throw with points of 85.50 and 64.00 for both men and women.
