The 2023 track and field season has been one of the most talked-about seasons so far. There have been rivalries that have reached the pinnacle of excitement during the various events. Athletes like Noah Lyles have reestablished their dominance after becoming double world champions in Budapest. There are several other athletes who are trying their best to reach the level of Noah Lyles and pose a challenge to his athletic supremacy. Some of them have even been able to mirror Lyles’ recent track success. In a recent race in the Xiamen Diamond League, Christian Coleman clocked the same time as Lyles to win the league.

Coleman won the heat, and it wrapped on a staunch note, but there was a disappointing start for an athlete who is also a close competitor of Noah Lyles and fell down during the heat. The video of this incident was shared on social media and has gone viral.

CITIUS MAG posted a video on their Twitter handle with the caption “Christian Coleman ties Noah Lyles’ 100-meter world lead with a 9.83s (0.4m/s wind) victory at the Xiamen Diamond League.” While everything in the video looks great, one thing stands out: the group of ten runners lines up for the heat, and as soon as the gun is fired, all of them launch toward the finish line. Except for Ackeem Blake of Jamaica, who falls just after the gun is fired and looks disappointed with the incident.

Blake was lined up in lane eight, and as soon as his counterparts started running, he lost his balance and fell on the track. He then punches his hands out of frustration and finishes the race, irrespective of the results of the incident. Coleman wins the race, Kishane Thompson of Jamaica finishes third, and Fred Kerley of the United States finishes third. Blake may not have secured the desired outcome in this race, but his track record boasts impressive victories, particularly during the world championship in Budapest.

During the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Blake was part of the team that finished fourth with a time of 38.06 seconds. However, he improved his performance this year and won the bronze in the 4×100 relay at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
