Returning to the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the USATF Indoor Championships will be a show of a kind. Scheduled to take place on February 16-17, the event will also play the role of a viable precursor to the World Athletics Indoor Championships. Serving as the American national championships, the usual USATF indoor has been altered in 2024. With two indoors in line, the excitement has also doubled. 

Athletes girding up for the competition are manifold. But the cynosure of all eyes is on track stars Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman. Always neck-to-neck with each other, the icons will lock horns yet again in a magnanimous setting. But will the athletes walk away with just medals only? No. The prize money for each looks as interesting as the roster.

The X post of Olympic medalist Rori Dunk reads, The USA Indoor Championships is this week! Athletes are fighting for a chance to rep Team USA, oh and there’s some money up for grabs. Here is the payout for the top places at the 2024 Championships!” Eyeing the Paris titles, the athletes will not only look to secure a podium but load their purses as well. The gold medalist will bag $6000, the silver medalist $4000, and the bronze medalist $2,500. Additionally, there are consolation prizes/awards for the 4th and 5th finishers, too. $1,5000 and $1,000 respectively for those lower rung slots have been earmarked for runners who give it their call and put up a close finish.

Starting March 1, the World Athletics Indoor Championships will look to invite the stellar athletes, the top picks from the USATF Indoors. USATF.TV, NBC, and Peacock will broadcast the two-day-long adrenaline-fuelled high-energy event. For the 10th time in history, Albuquerque will host the event. And inarguably, out of all these years (2010-2014, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2023), 2024 holds more significance as the Olympic year is drawinng its veneers open. 161 days to the marquee event, here’s what to expect on this indoor leg.

 Noah Lyles vs Christian Coleman – survival of the fittest

The threepeater in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Noah Lyles, also the 6x World Champion, will go head-on with his nemesis. Christian Coleman, the 2019 100m World Champion, is one of the most popular speedsters in America alongside Lyles. At the upcoming Indoors, the adversaries will aim to defend the 60m title. Aiming to secure his first 60m indoor national title, the 26-year-old will compete with the 60m WR holder Coleman.

The other names are Yared Nuguse and Hobbs Kessler, who had already made their marks on the Millrose ground. Looking to defend their individual titles in their respective categories, the shining roster is enough to bring the fans to the edge of their seats. Doffing their hats to the immense global love, the sprinters will bring their best game.
