The 26-year-old runner competed in his first TrackTown Men’s 10,000m race, where he set up a record of 27:38:87. Recently Flotrack shared a video on their Instagram account showing the athlete training for punching tickets to Olympic Trials, with a caption that said, “@drewhunter00 locked in and punches his ticket to the Olympic Trials with his 27:38.87 in the TrackTown Men’s 10,000m here at @soundrunning ‘s The TEN🔥”. While this is the athlete’s first Olympic trial appearance, it can act as the head start to his journey towards creating history.

Andrew Hunter realised his passion for the sport at an early age and got to the University of Oregon in 2015. There he decided to pursue a professional career in track and field when he signed a 10-year contract with Adidas on July 8, 2016. This was just the beginning of his life as a runner. He was 6th overall in the men’s mile race at the 2016 Sir Walter Miler, which was his first race since graduating from high school. The next year, he participated in the NYRR Millrose Games Wanamaker Mile, where he placed seventh.
The road to success: Setbacks and preparation
As Andrew Hunter kept rising in his journey, he was on his way to the 2020 Olympic Trials. Things were going well when an unwanted incident caused him a roadblock for another 4 years. The middle-distance runner suffered a series of injuries, beginning with a ruptured plantar fascia in the 2019 U.S. Track & Field Championships. Due to his injury, Andrew Hunter had to forfeit the 2020 USA Olympic track & field trials.
