In Orlando, before starting the US Olympic marathon trial, Clayton Young knew that his biggest opponent would be his former BYU teammate. He further knew that Conner Mantz would take the race up to the last minute to defeat him. It is quite normal for the pair who know each other from incipient days. The climate was not on his side as well, The unbearable 70-degree heat took a toll on almost every participant. In that situation, only a blooming fanfare could inspire Clayton Young. It did eventually. The visibly enthralled sprinter could especially attest to that.

Despite the scorching heat, the Orlando event of the US Olympic marathon trial saw an unmatched attendance on the last day. Even the mayor of the city found that quite ecstatic. On such a platform, both Clayton Young and Conner Mantz appeared with the cloak of being a favorite.

That made the moment full of emotions from a sprinter who had to leave the Olympic trial last time after dismantling 136th position.
