The Diamond League, originally known as the IAAF Golden League, was launched in 2010. After partnering with the Wanda Group, it became known as the Wanda Diamond League. The initiative was designed to expand the global presence of track and field as a sport. The Brussels Diamond League is a key part of this program and has, over the years, been the stage for some truly exhilarating performances. Back in 2011, Usain Bolt took the meet by storm by clocking a record 9.76s in the 100m discipline. Other than Bolt, athletes like Yohan Blake, Butch Reynolds, Michael Cherry, Aries Merritt, Andre Philipps, and others too, have left some indelible impressions on the meet.
