Sydney McLaughlin Levrone has revealed who her inspiration is. Coming from a family with a rich sporting heritage, Levrone was always attracted to sports. Her father qualified for the 400m semis at the Olympic trials in 1984. Her brother Tyler went one step ahead to clinch the 400m silver medal at the IAAF World U20 Championships in 2016. However, Sydney has gone on to become the best of the lot in her family.
Speaking of the ones that inspired her to become a better version of herself, Sydney named a couple of legends of the game. Not only that, the budding athlete also aspires to step into the shoes of her idols to inspire the younger generation for good.

Appearing in an interview on X, Levrone touched upon a variety of subjects related to sports. One among them was the ones she idolised while growing up. Levrone went on to say that Jackie Joyner Kersee & Allyson Felix were two such names that had a significant influence on Levrone. Speaking about the legends of the game, she stated, “Two of the greats in our sport. Just amazing women full of so much class and poise.”

Levrone further went on to state that not only were they classy, but their supreme skills made them dominate their respective disciplines. Luckily for Levrone, she had the chance to interact with both of them and share a personal connection. Reiterating the fact, Levrone opened up about the loads of wisdom she received that made her transform to the athlete she is now.
Surely, coming in contact with Felix and Kersee has done a world of good for Levrone. After stringing up a last-four finish at Rio, 2021 panned out to be a marvel for Levrone. Clocking 51.46, Levrone clinched her maiden gold in Tokyo. That is until she followed it up with another gold in the 4×400 relay. Aiming to replicate Tokyo, Levrone is in high spirits for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. However, she not only idolizes Felix and Kersee but also hopes to be a role model.

Levrone wants to be an inspiration. And for that, she is uber careful in how she represents and carries herself. Speaking on the subject, she stated, “I think representation in sports being able to see people who look like you or come from similar places as you, it helps you to be motivated to know that you can achieve great things too.”

The 24-year-old further said that whatever she does, integrity is one of the virtues that always makes the top of her list. With eyes set on consecutive Olympic glories, Levrone aspires to be someone whom the younger generation can imitate and emulate.
