And from this category, a young 14-year-old athlete has recently shocked the athletics world with her iconic achievements.

14-year-old track and field star stuns the world

According to a post on X by Track Spice (@trackspice), the account shared the recent achievements of a rising track star. The post read, “14-year-old (turning 15 in November) Kelly Ann Doualla Edimo from Italy run this week-end 60m indoor in 7.27!” Kelly Edimo’s performance in the 60-meter indoor event was remarkable because her performance established Italian records in the under 16, 18, and 20 categories, although officially considered a Cadette record due to regulations.

Additionally, she broke the under-15 world record, surpassing the previous record set by an American athlete in 2018. Another remarkable point to be noted is that her time of 7.27 seconds ranks as the second-best in Italy this year, only behind Zaynab Dosso’s 7.02 seconds, which is a new national record. Moreover, it stands as the sixth-best time ever recorded in Italy. Her recent improvement of twenty-one hundredths from her previous personal best showcases her dedication and progress.

Kelly Ann’s previous notable achievement included a long jump of 6.10 meters last year. Despite her remarkable performances, she won’t be able to participate in certain championships due to her young age. On the list of athletes who are making waves in track and field Christian Miller, born in 2006, tops the list, clocking 10.06 seconds with a wind speed of +2.0 m/s on July 8, 2023, during the USA U20 Championships in Eugene, United States, when he was 17 years and 53 days old. Another under-18 athlete, Puripol Boonson from Thailand, also achieved a time of 10.06 seconds but with a wind speed of +1.4 m/s on September 30, 2023, during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, at the age of 17 years and 260 days.

Among the women, Rezoana Mallick Heena from India has made waves in the world of track and field. The 16-year-old has won a gold medal at the Indian Open 400m Championships 2023 U16 race, clocking 53.22 seconds. Her performance in the U16 race also broke the U16 women’s 400-meter national record previously held by Anjana Thamke.

During the Indian U18 Championships 2023 in Udupi, she also achieved a personal best of 24.23 seconds in the women’s 200m event heats.
