Sha’Carri Richardson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce come from the revered background of American versus Jamaican track and field battle. Both sprinters have engaged in fierce contests, giving the audience more reasons to enjoy the game. In the 2023 Budapest Worlds, the duo fought their struggle with each other for the last time. However, in the 100m event, Sha’Carri Richardson remained ahead of the Jamaican legend, earning the gold medal. However, instead of outbursts, both the sprinters showered praise on each other after the race. Till now, that has been the story between them. But, as per fans, things might take a turn because of external factors.
Mainly, the courtesy goes to Sha’Carri Richardson’s latest advertisement. The track and field followers have found some uncanny similarities between that ad and one made by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce a while ago.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s advertising promoting the Whoop watches and wearables has come under the scanner. With experience dealing with Michael Phelps and Virgil Van Dijk in the past, the brand roped in SCR in the Olympic year as the face. However, in the concerned ad, Sha’Carri’s green sporting dress fetches an eerily similarity with the costume Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wore in an ad promoting Richard Mille’s watches. Not only that, the similarities remain in many places. On the X, the fan handle, Amber J has discussed those similarities.
Blame the people don’t blame Sha’Carri cause her real life aesthetic is this too. https://t.co/JSN3UurNZq

Other than the costume color and type, both the sprinters’ hair shades in the concerned ads remain the same. To put an extra topping on the scene, the background space and track stay similar, mostly in both Richard Milli’s and Whoop’s promotional ads. That unfolded a truckload of arguments regarding plagiarism. Even several fans alleged that the deliberately made issue aims to dismantle the mutual relationship the American and Jamaican sprinters hold between them.
The fans sniff a deeper conspiracy
After Amber J posted the similarities on X, the track and field fans remained divided into multiple branches. However, a tumultuous loathing was directed towards the creator of Whoop advertising as the X-handle commented, “lol this is disgusting”.

The criticism extended further afterward.
Taking the athletes’ side, Ron Goodman penned, “They probably thought no one would notice or care. The damage to reputation could be significant.”

Echoing that sentiment, the X-handle, for your cause, replied, “They’re in the same industry, they have competition just because of that….then you create a similar add promoting the same kind of product?”
I can see that.

I don’t think Sha’Carri though did it herself and was trying to be spiteful.
The powers that be did

But as per many, it is a blatant case of plagiarism.
On that topic, the X-handle, @muddoe argued, “I honestly think they’re just trying to start a problem. I don’t think it’s laziness because they had to go out the way to find those exact same colors for her lol”.

However, Damion Meeks uttered the internal truth behind it: “Imitation is most sincerest form of flattery”.

Ultimately, Ororo Munroe added to Sha’Carri’s side. The argument came as, “Blame the people don’t blame Sha’Carri”.
