This year’s event promises a compelling mission and renewed purpose. This 33-year-old Olympic athlete is gearing up to host an event that promises excitement and entertainment.

With a live DJ, raffles, various vendors, and tempting food trucks, attendees are sure to have a blast. Adding to the thrill, children from the Burch Elementary School Running Club will participate in an 8×50-meter relay. But there’s more to this event than just fun and games. This time, there’s a special purpose: to inspire athletes of all ages.

This event marks the seventh iteration of the Christian Taylor Invitation, an annual affair named after and meticulously organized by the man himself. Scheduled for March 23, the event has already reached full capacity, demonstrating its enduring popularity and significance within the community. For Christian Taylor, the purpose behind the invitational extends far beyond mere competition.

Taylor’s vision is deeply entrenched in cultivating the future luminaries of track and field, instilling within them the requisite mindset and unwavering resolve essential for triumph on the world stage. Set amidst the familiar milieu of Sandy Creek High School, where Taylor first honed his craft and etched enduring recollections, the invitational assumes a profound significance. However, he has reached this level with his mindblowing Olympic career record.

A hearken back at this triple jump phenom

His meteoric rise came onto the global stage, defying age barriers at the 2011 World Championships where, at a youthful 21, he clinched gold in the triple jump, outshining his seasoned rivals. In a display of American dominance, he, alongside former college teammate Will Claye, claimed a remarkable 1-2 finish in the triple jump at the 2012 Olympics in London, underlining his prowess as a world-class athlete.

Driven by an unyielding pursuit of excellence, Taylor embarked on a journey across continents, following his esteemed coach, Rana Reider, to England and later to Moscow, where he immersed himself in relentless training to hone his craft. Amidst his quest for perfection, he made strategic adjustments, switching his takeoff foot in 2013 to alleviate persistent left knee discomfort, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his sport. In a defining moment at the 2015 World Championships, he soared to glory, shattering a longstanding American record with a monumental triple jump of 18.21m, falling tantalizingly short of the world record by a mere 8cm.
