Malaika Mihambo, the 30-year-old German athlete, seems to have put behind her days of gloom. Suffering from a heartbreaking hamstring injury last year, the Olympic gold medalist seems to have found her groove right before the Paris Olympics. In what was a piece of welcome news for her fans, a social media update informed that she has scored a promising number recently, hinting at her possible return to form.

Mihambo would be one of the touted favorites to win once again, provided she does not incur any new injuries. And if recent updates are a hint, then the German fans have a lot to rejoice.

In what was a welcome update, Rori Dunk conveyed the message of Mihambo’s return to form via an X update. While mentioning her dreadful hamstring injury, Dunk stated that the 30-year-old was spotted recording a jump of 6.93m in recent times. He wrote, Malaika Mihambo is back! After a Hamstring tear kept her out of the world championship last season the Olympic Champion leaped to 6.93m this past weekend.”

Hyping up the situation, Dunk also labeled the German as one of the top draws to win the Indoors at Glasgow, as well as the Olympics. However, this prediction was countered in the comments section by a user who pointed out that Mihambo is listed as a “non-entry.” Thus, the chances of her taking part in the Indoors would be slim.

However, Mihambo would be utterly eager to make a return to the scheme of things. She had one of the best years, from 2021 to 2022. During that time, the German athlete won the Olympic gold, defeating the likes of Ese Brume and Brittney Reese by jumping a whopping 7.00m in the finals. Next up, she secured her second World Championship in Eugene by bettering her Olympic score to 7.12m. Her initial World title came in Doha back in 2019. Unfortunately, just when Mihambo was looking to complete her hat trick of world titles, tragedy struck.
