When Noah Lyles has secured his ticket to Paris, could Junelle Bromfield have been far behind? The Jamaican Olympic Team Trials are on in Kingston, and Bromfield just received her green flag for the Paris Games. Despite being thousands of miles away from each other, it looks like their shared dream of representing their respective countries has enabled both Noah and Junelle to go all out in the team trials. And, well, it also looks like their training session together worked out for both of them!
Junelle Bromfield’s latest feat made Noah Lyles ecstatic!
In an Instagram video that Bromfield posted on June 26 (but was evidently shot earlier), the couple was in New York at the Icahn Stadium. Engaging in playful banter, Lyles and Bromfield ran around the track, talking about jerk chicken and the American’s favorite music, of all things. While the Jamaican was there to support her partner when he made his 200m season debut at the NYC Grand Prix, Bromfield was 3000 miles away in Florida on the eve of the US Olympic Trials, training at the National Training Center in Clermont.

And now, she traveled 200 miles further to Kingston, Jamaica, for her own Olympic Trials. But based on her result, the two lovebirds will be reunited in no time in the City of Love. The Jamaican Olympic Team Trials results reveal that Junelle Bromfield has got one step closer to sealing her name in the gold, green, and yellow team after finishing the women’s 400m prelims in 2nd, clocking in at 50.74 seconds. While the achievement is impressive in itself, Junelle made the National Stadium the site where she surpassed her previous personal best in the event.
She broke her own record of 50.77 seconds, which she registered in this very place during the 2021 Jamaican National Championships. Courtesy of this latest feat, the 26-year-old proved that discipline and dedication can benefit anyone who wishes to challenge themselves to improve every day. After qualifying for the 400m final, she finished 3rd with another impressive 51.24-second run to seal her ticket to Paris. What’s impressive to note is that she didn’t breach the 51-second mark the entire season leading up to the Trials, but when it mattered, she pulled out all the stops. And Noah Lyles couldn’t have been prouder.

As soon as Junelle Bromfield secured her place in the Jamaican Olympic track and field team, Noah Lyles, in true boyfriend spirit, tweeted, “THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!!!!! @JunelleBromfiel IS GOING TO THE OLYMPICS IN THE 400m!!!!” With both of them heading to the French capital, this will be the second time the 26-year-old will be competing at the Olympic Games. Having made her debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she returned home with two medals.
Junelle Bromfield participated in the 4×400 women’s relay and the mixed relay. And this year, she’s on for an individual event, too. Like Noah Lyles, she secured a bronze medal in Tokyo (in the 4×400 mixed relay). And she did one better in the women’s relay, taking home the silver. This time around, with both of them eyeing to achieve the quest for their maiden Olympic gold, Paris might become more than just the City of Love for the sprinting couple.

That said, 2024 has become a testament to Bromfield’s dedication. In every meet this year, she has recorded sub-55-second finishes to underscore her determination to make it to Paris with the likes of Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Now that she’s attained this feat, all eyes are on crossing the finish line in Paris first. And even though she’ll be competing against her partner’s country, there’s no doubt she’ll show Lyles her support, just as they’ve been doing since they started dating.
Lyles and Bromfield are each other’s pillars of support
Ever since the two went public with their relationship in 2022, neither Noah nor Junelle has let an opportunity slide to show their appreciation for the other. After Noah’s thunderous 100m final sprint earlier this week, where he left the likes of Fred Kerley and Kenny Bednarek in his dust, courtesy of his 9.83-second dash, Bromfield quickly cheered for him on Instagram. Posting a picture of the reigning 100m world champion, the Jamaican called Lyles “Di Boss.”

As for Noah Lyles, despite how long they’ve been friends – a friendship that grew into a romantic tryst in recent years – the American still can’t get over Junelle’s beauty and blushes every time she walks by. In fact, back in May, Bromfield shared a video on her Instagram story when the two were enjoying some time away from the spotlight. As Lyles scrolled on his phone, his girlfriend addressed the camera, saying, “Watch my man blushing when I walked out.”
Sure enough, when she did, the American did, in fact, stop scrolling to admire Bromfield. Aren’t they one of the cutest couples? With Jamaica and the USA’s long-standing rivalry in track and field, it’s refreshing to see just how much the two athletes love each other. But come the Olympics, it’ll be interesting to see how Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield meet each other on the grandest stage.
